I have read your blogs and been inspired to try and create my own. Seems like a great idea to share with others, and saves me sending out heaps of large emails with photos attached to family. I just read your blog cover to cover, so to speak. Absolutely fascinating. Thanks for allowing us to join you in your journey. It’s great - and very informative - particularly regarding the process. I will be building a home in the near future. Bought the land (with an existing house) in December. It will be knocked down and a custom designed house put in its place. I'm still putting my requirement and design ideas together. Your process looks interesting. I particularly liked the sample pack you got to take home complete with stones. Like you, I think it’s strange that they get you to sign your "fixed price" contract before you make your selections. I think I would be harder than most with the builder, writing next to my signature that the price is fixed and selections are yet to be made. Of course this is crazy since my selections may cost more, but it is also crazy to expect people to commit and then charge them more just for different colours as in your case. Very misleading. Sorry to hear about your latest hitch with the potential screw piles. At the very most, I would be paying cost price for the piles since PD have already made a profit from the "sale". Not sure how you would find the cost price for screw piles however. Good luck and keep us posted, Casa We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds.
