Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 472Nov 19, 2010 6:24 am danana We've been told that we will be in by xmas. Totally unexpected but exciting!! so much planning to do now. Apparently our SS will have an exact date by the end of next week.. We've been told the same, but no one will give us a date so we can organize everything. Good luck everyone! I'm glad someone picked that up! Now that things have started they appear to be on the ball, we are told we will have a slab early next week and a frame not far after that! Yipee!!!! Congratulations to those expected to be in by Christmas, I expect a very busy few weeks leading up to it though! At the end of the day though, the funds will be coming out of term deposit a little early and the bulk will be there as requested but, there have been a cople of concessions. They are definitely open to discussion and i would present your case to them to see what you can arrange. Hope it all goes well for you - this could have been the end for us but luckily, we are all systems go! Cheers! Gav Building the Monte Carlo with side activities in Mt Annan MY BLOG: http://gavsfirstbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 477Nov 19, 2010 8:57 pm Hi everyone Just a quick update to let you know we received our keys last week - our pre-handover walkthrough was painless, with some paint touchups, a missing dishwasher and the join in the stone countertop to be rectified, plus the Telstra connection to be organised. It took a week to get the keys, but it gave us time to organise ourselves and our "stuff". The house looks beautiful, we are really pleased with it, our new furniture is arriving bit by bit so it's a little easier than having everything arrive at once! Our shutters were installed yesterday, our driveway was laid and the fencing commenced, so it's looking like a home now instead of a construction site, especially since they took the pretty blue loo away. Council did a drive past to-day and issued our Occupancy Certificate, so it's all go! In case anybody has a similar problem with porcelain tiles - the tiler had marked them with pencil and I couldn't remove the marks, researched it on Google and the suggestion was to use a pencil rubber - it works!! Many thanks to MJH, our site supervisor, our customer service officer and the colour selections staff for their assistance over the past eleven months, we've been a bit of a pain with a few things but we've gotten there in the end. I hope you are all progressing well with your builds and for those that may be in for Xmas, best of luck and have fun. I have enjoyed reading your posts and even now we have "finished", I'll still log in to check out what's happening. EvyK Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 478Nov 20, 2010 4:12 pm We have had some progress this week despite the rain. The roof is now finished and we expect the electrical wiring to start on Monday. We should now not have to worry about the weather. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 480Nov 21, 2010 7:11 am Hi Bee224, I suppose one tip is to be patient from now on, I think paperwork will go slowly. We went through prelim quote one by one with sales rep. Still changed some thing along the way, e.g. they quoted children's activity door as the most expensive one at $3.6 approx and we wanted a normal sliding/cavity door. Think it should be golden at that price. Anyway there is still room for change. I e-mailed back and forth with all thing I remebered after that intial deposit and always got a quick reponse. One tip would be to try and provide all relevant documents to the builder, those instruments 88B, 149 etc and chase your land developer for all documents they might have about your land (comnpaction report/Geotech)...and of course learn as much as you can so you show to the builder that you know stuff and they would hopefully be more on the ball. Good luck with your build. taki Building Havana Elite with side HT with MJD 20/04/11 DA approved by council 06/06/11 cut/fill 08/06/11 piering 20/6/11 slab 11/8/11 frame complete 18/9/11 lock up 28/11/11 handover booked Hi AKG, We had a base tender of $592 for 31 squares from MC Donald Jones.
