Any feedback appreciated Thanks guys Patchie There are a few things to look out for when selecting a supplier Most Aust made flat packs are manufactured from hmr (high moisture resistant partical board) The non hmr board will fall apart after a few years when it gets wet. Solid backs instead of thin backs are easier for self assembly and gives other trades something decent to fix to. There is a BIG overseas company selling Aust. wide ,that uses thin backs and non hmr material for their carcases. Some flat pack companys will ship anywhere in Aust Best Price Wardrobes Sliding door robes | Walk in robes Deco panel | Mirror | Melamine 26 to 28 Cottage lane Hackham M: 0402 927 376 http://www.bestpricewardrobes.com.au Trade welcome Re: Flat Pack Kitchens 11May 08, 2008 4:14 pm This is our flat pack kitchen we got from a local company SRD Kitchens. Was made to our measurements using Laminex products. Including sink / mixer / cooktop / dishwasher / rangehood / oven came to approx $7k. DH, my Dad and myself put it together over the space of two weeks (but that was because we have a business to run plus at that stage our daughter was 20mths old and I was 8mths pregnant with our son!) Cant differentiate from the non-flatpack. As should be the case. Any QUALITY unassembled kitchen will be fabricated to the same standards as those a professional cabinet maker will use. The only difference in an unassembled kitchen and one installed by a Cabinet Maker should be the cost of the assembly and installation (and various overheads associated with such a business). Unfortunately the flooding of the market with cheap and nasty high volume products has dramatically decreased the perceived value of a lot of high quality DIY kitchens, which in turn gets handed on the fabricator who loses business because they are not as cheap as, say, Bangins. I am looking at redoing our kitchen. I have read the link about the chemicals in imported flat pack kitchens. I have looked at a lot of websites but of course, it doesn't tell you where the products are made. Does anyone know of companies in Perth who do flat pack kitchens from australian products? Re: Flat Pack Kitchens 16May 24, 2008 10:27 am mel Hi all, I am looking at redoing our kitchen. I have read the link about the chemicals in imported flat pack kitchens. You are correct. Overseas products sometimes emit carcinogenic vapours and are often not manufactured from moisture resistant products. These days it is not necessary to even be in the same state to supply flat packs. We can design, manufacture and deliver flat packs anywhere in Australia, made from Australian products. Maggie Yes we would. We have sent flat packs to Renner Springs In Northern Terr. I never accually met the customers, it was all done over the phone, email and fax As far as weather it would be cost effective to send from Adelaide to Perth, would be a matter of cost differences between the two states. If you want to compare prices, send me some info and I'll give you a comparision. Of course simply designing a kitchen for you is also possible Best Price Wardrobes Sliding door robes | Walk in robes Deco panel | Mirror | Melamine 26 to 28 Cottage lane Hackham M: 0402 927 376 http://www.bestpricewardrobes.com.au Trade welcome Ikea 19Jun 15, 2008 6:50 pm Just put in an Ikea kitchen and it came up a treat!!
Easy to assemble, easy to install but it appears the Europeans don't have cavity wall!! You wouldn't think that would be relevant until you trying to find a stud to screw into at the 2 pre-positioned fixing points at the corner of the cabinets.
