I thought the quote for water tank and connection is fairly high and that is the part that surprised me the most. I'm still trying to find out if this is a rip off or not. Also, I asked the the sales rep about deleting the sarking, but it was recommended to me not to do this. Still reading more about it. Have you all decided to include this item? Could anyone share the cost of raising the ceiling to 2550, mine is $4500 standard home + $720 additional for altered home. I'm sure I'll have many more questions along the way, I'm proving not to be an easy customer. Cheers, taki Hey taki, Our costs for raising the ceiling are pretty much the same with Standard quoted as $4330.00 and Altered $680.00 and that was before they were going to rise their prices. Also in regards to the downpipes, stormwater $8270.00 and connection for the tank overflow $1290.00. Has anyone had to get an engineer draw up a plan for a proposed retaining wall? Like us both the engineer and the council were somewhat suprised that MJ didn't provide this so another $500.00 to add to the list. Building The Monte Carlo with PR-MJ Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 467Nov 15, 2010 5:09 pm Hi taki & jacko8317 The tank is only gold plated I think. Seriously I think it is poly/plastic. I received a separate quote from a local supplier for a 10000 litre tank, pump, controller + limiting valve, $2695 delivered. Of course this does not include concrete stand, fittings & labour etc. It's all part of the BASIX Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 468Nov 17, 2010 11:53 am Hi Woodduck, I noticed in one of your previous posts that you are getting porceline tiles laid by MJH. Do they do this after all the painting and electrical fitout so that they will not get damaged by other workmen? We have put tiling in our tender and are a bit worried how it will turn out. Yes, we are getting MJH to do all our floors, painting finished last friday, plumbers finishing off today, aircond going in today. fix off to follow and i believe the tiles will be laid next week after these trades finish. Then the carpet to follow. So hopefully it shouldnt get damaged. Will keep you posted. The snag continues and im told of a resolution today - full amount cant be put in security account as half of it is in term deposit making good interest. Ive left it to them so lets see what they do as it could make or break me here. Gav Hi Gavmer Did you manage to overcome the term deposit problem and what was MJH's resolution. I'm in the same predicament. Thanks Muscovy Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 471Nov 18, 2010 9:00 pm We've been told that we will be in by xmas. I'm glad someone picked that up! Now that things have started they appear to be on the ball, we are told we will have a slab early next week and a frame not far after that! Yipee!!!! Congratulations to those expected to be in by Christmas, I expect a very busy few weeks leading up to it though! At the end of the day though, the funds will be coming out of term deposit a little early and the bulk will be there as requested but, there have been a cople of concessions. They are definitely open to discussion and i would present your case to them to see what you can arrange. Hope it all goes well for you - this could have been the end for us but luckily, we are all systems go! Cheers! It took a week to get the keys, but it gave us time to organise ourselves and our "stuff". The house looks beautiful, we are really pleased with it, our new furniture is arriving bit by bit so it's a little easier than having everything arrive at once! Our shutters were installed yesterday, our driveway was laid and the fencing commenced, so it's looking like a home now instead of a construction site, especially since they took the pretty blue loo away. Council did a drive past to-day and issued our Occupancy Certificate, so it's all go! In case anybody has a similar problem with porcelain tiles - the tiler had marked them with pencil and I couldn't remove the marks, researched it on Google and the suggestion was to use a pencil rubber - it works!! Many thanks to MJH, our site supervisor, our customer service officer and the colour selections staff for their assistance over the past eleven months, we've been a bit of a pain with a few things but we've gotten there in the end. I hope you are all progressing well with your builds and for those that may be in for Xmas, best of luck and have fun. I have enjoyed reading your posts and even now we have "finished", I'll still log in to check out what's happening. EvyK Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 478Nov 20, 2010 4:12 pm We have had some progress this week despite the rain. The roof is now finished and we expect the electrical wiring to start on Monday. We should now not have to worry about the weather. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 480Nov 21, 2010 7:11 am Hi Bee224, I suppose one tip is to be patient from now on, I think paperwork will go slowly. We went through prelim quote one by one with sales rep. Still changed some thing along the way, e.g. they quoted children's activity door as the most expensive one at $3.6 approx and we wanted a normal sliding/cavity door. Think it should be golden at that price. Anyway there is still room for change. I e-mailed back and forth with all thing I remebered after that intial deposit and always got a quick reponse. One tip would be to try and provide all relevant documents to the builder, those instruments 88B, 149 etc and chase your land developer for all documents they might have about your land (comnpaction report/Geotech)...and of course learn as much as you can so you show to the builder that you know stuff and they would hopefully be more on the ball. Good luck with your build. taki Building Havana Elite with side HT with MJD 20/04/11 DA approved by council 06/06/11 cut/fill 08/06/11 piering 20/6/11 slab 11/8/11 frame complete 18/9/11 lock up 28/11/11 handover booked Hi AKG, We had a base tender of $592 for 31 squares from MC Donald Jones.
