We visited the house again yesterday (there’s a common theme here), and discovered a lot of work had been done over this past week. The stairs are in, the front door is on, the bifolds were installed, the cornicing was finished, the waterproofing completed, the lower gutters had guards on them, and most of the internal doors were in place! It’s worth noting that the missing walls next to the fireplace were being fixed while we were on site.
While quite a lot was accomplished this week, it appears there were a few mistakes along the way. Probably the most obvious was the front door. It seems there was an ordering mix-up with Corinthian Doors, and we received frosted side panels where we selected clear glass. While we appreciate the free upgrade, it wasn’t what we asked for, and will still opt for the clear glass. After all, the glass is clear on the door itself, and looks a bit off with only the side frosted.
A second issue exists around the bi-fold doors. We were contacted earlier in the week by our site supervisor to discuss how to install a deadbolt and/or locking mechanism onto the bifold doors. The issue has been complicated due to the fact that we opted to have the pillar removed between the two sections, which now requires them to lock into each other.
Unfortunately, it seems as if a deadbolt has been installed in the wrong panel, and will likely need to be replaced, as there’s a hole drilled in the door. After inspecting what was already installed at the house, we visited the display home to compare. It confirmed our suspicions, as the display home has both a handle and deadbolt installed on an opposite door from where ours has been installed. While this may prove to be frustrating, as our doors were custom ordered due to the bushfire requirements, I would assume this issue will be addressed with the same urgency and professionalism that our site supervisor has dealt with all of the previous hiccups we’ve encountered.
