It's interesting to see the different order that things are done with the same builder - we've had no electrical or plumbing work, yet our roof tiles are due to go up on Wednedsay. Good to hear that your SS is on the ball and you've got the communication going. We have a new CLO from today as well (same one as you I guess) so hopefully we will get some more info coming through now as well. It is good to give positive feedback as well as negative. Where are you building molly? He seems to be doing the rockingham mandurah area. If you are down that way then there is every chance you will get him. Re: Switch Homes Ten70 - Roof frame finished 149Nov 13, 2010 8:25 am Well we have completed the building inspection and there are no real issues. The inspector said to us that the house was "pretty good" to this point. There are a few minor things to fix or finish but otherwise it is all good. That is a relief. We will be sending the report on to switch once we get our copy. We have the roof sheets delivered and waiting to go on. We have a slight hold up in proceedings at the moment. We stipulated in our contract that we are going to get the wall cavity injected with rock wool and that they need to liaise with us to allow the contractor on site to carry this out just before the render goes on. Unfortunately in the change between SS this was overlooked and we have stopped for the week waiting for the insulation to be completed. Luckily they could squeeze me in this monday as the usual wait time is 3 weeks from booking. So hopefully come tuesday we will be starting back up again. Also, chatting with the building inspector and he mentioned that the chippies turned up on thursday to install the 2 cavity sliders, but went away mumbling and grumbling that there was no timber to do the job. So I guess I will find out if that has been completed when we have a look today. Such relief now we have real progress and a SS that is reasonable. At least we now know that they are not all built badly (dreamhan and I seem to have had the same tradies). Did you use my guy or someone else for the inspection? It seems like we're still at about the same point. My roof tiles are going on but my electrical and plumbing first-fits are not done. And from that came the inattention to detail and then the stuff ups. The new guy obviously won't be letting that happen. I ended up getting a guy from lakelands to inspect the building as the other mob were A, expensive as and B, could not get to the block for a week. We went to the block on Saturday and they have put on one third of the roof. Very cool. We get the walls injected with rockwool tomorrow, so I might slip down and have a look at that in the morning. Re: Switch Homes Ten70 - Roof frame finished 153Nov 14, 2010 7:46 pm abbey, excuse my ignorance, but what is rockwool? my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Switch Homes Ten70 - Roof frame finished 154Nov 14, 2010 8:03 pm Good news about the roof. And with tin at least they can't chip or crack it. The inspector I used was cheaper than another quote I had, and given what he found, it was money well spent. I really didn't need to hear that about the SS since I have him now.... I'd rather go back to not having one!
