Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 21, 2010 6:55 am hi everyone, we've just built a brand new home in wyndhamvale which has gas boosted solar hot water, from all taps it takes more than 8 minutes for hot water to come out of it. is this right and should we have to put up with this? Re: 8 mins to get hot water at tap 2Sep 21, 2010 8:38 am Rinnai make a thing called the smart start. It pumps your water through your pipes until it reaches temp. 8 minutes is crazy, imagine how much water is being wasted. Re: 8 mins to get hot water at tap 3Sep 29, 2010 6:37 pm The hot water system has either been installed incorrectly or there is a fault on it. Your problem is more than just a long run to a fixture if its taking so long and its happening to all fixtures. Perhaps the circ pump isnt working. You should get the plumber back to rectify the situation. Re: 8 mins to get hot water at tap 4Oct 09, 2010 12:00 pm are you testing the time by a showerhead. try instead a bath spout. Instantaneous hot water systems have a minimum flow, and a highly efficient shower head may not be cutting it if you are mixing cold in as well. Re: 8 mins to get hot water at tap 5Nov 05, 2010 5:13 am We had the same problem in a rental property some years ago. It turned out that the anti-tap hammer fitting was installed backwards (which was located near the hot water system in our case). It fixed the low pressure problem too. (must have been a friday installation). Re: 8 mins to get hot water at tap 7Nov 18, 2010 7:18 am Hmm the answer seems to be in the plumbing. Has there been any modification to the plumbing? Probably there is a loop in the system between the cold and hot water the basic tests involves two people turning different taps alternating the hot and cold water if the HWS fires up in both instances then you have a loop in the system you should get a pro to identify and modify the plumbing run. Depends how much direct sun it gets. Is there any shading (eaves or trees)? If the sun hits a window directly it doesn't matter too much if it's double or single… 1 13029 Can a plumber put a tap on a rain water tank which is full? Tank is similar to one in photo. Cheers. 0 1950 the sun master is the solar heating to "warm" the water in the tank the S26 is your hot water system which will heat the water (25 degrees?) so with both turned on you… 2 14797 |
