Hi Trav&Jo,
We built with Simonds and they seemed the most reasonable but a fair bit of fighting with them. Henley was good but very expensive for what they offered. Site costs they couldn't even give us an estimate. With that said, the Simonds contractors in Darley are FANTASTIC and did not have the slightest bit of quality issue with them. It was just head office that was the problem.
This is what we got charged for in the end, but that was after they had to settle with us as they incorrectly quoted us to begin with and can only charged 20% above initial quote
Modified 'H' class slab - $7006
Concrete bored piers - $2400
cut and fill - $2400
TOTAL CHARGED: $11806
Their receipts they provided to us are below:
Concrete for slab/concrete pump/excavator hire - $3356
Cencrete for slab and waffle pod materials - $7006
Site cut and fill/removal of excess spoil/special site allowance (3.6mm cut) - $5884
TOTAL THEIR COST: $16246 (which includes their markup)

Thanks for the reply.
These costs arent too bad from what I have heard others have been quoted/charged. Did Simonds fix the costs from the start or did they have have an allowance for extra? By the sounds of what you are saying they had the option of only charging up to 20% of any additional cost above that that they quoted. A bit of reassurance if that was the case.
Was that a 3.6mm cut or 3.6 metre cut in your costings? A bit confused.
Hope the rest of the process went/goes well for you and cheers.
