A thankful person is a happy person. [/color]My hobby design blog: http://aviewondesign.blogspot.com/ Re: Biff's Reno 22Oct 08, 2010 8:26 am It's easy for me as I have a fantastic architect and wonderful builder (he's also a pretty good project manager too). Both have worked together in the past and I'm ensuring I keep changes from the original plans to an absolute minimum so there are no costly delays. Renovation Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38489 Re: Biff's Reno 23Oct 15, 2010 8:28 pm Upstairs is really starting to take shape. We have a roof! The picture below is taken from the master bedroom looking into the WIR and beyond that the ensuite. The 'platform' on the left is our shower. It will have opaque glass on the external glass as well as the internal side. No staircase of yet so ladder it is. Renovation Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38489 Re: Biff's Reno 27Oct 17, 2010 10:44 am Hi Biff. Great reno cannot wait to see finished home. Can I ask with the downstairs bathroom and laundry what are they going to use against the solid brickwalls to conceal the pipes? Can you show me a pic once they have done it? BTW We are still waiting for council to stamp permitt for our reno . Christine Re: Biff's Reno 28Oct 17, 2010 2:14 pm Bubble - I assume the plaster board (not sure if they baton the wall first or not) will just cover the pipes. I could be wrong though? IS that what you mean? It took us 12 months to get through council so I know your pain Renovation Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38489 Re: Biff's Reno 30Oct 20, 2010 8:49 pm Frames Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Renovation Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38489 Re: Biff's Reno 31Oct 22, 2010 8:05 am You guys are ploughing along Biff! I like the black frames too! Re: Biff's Reno 32Oct 22, 2010 3:02 pm Thanks. My builder is doing an excellent job. Those black frames were almost silver. I just happened to see a small sample of the frame on site the day before they were schduled to be made and raised it with the architect as to why they weren't black. They said black was standard but I had requested silver. I told them this was the first I had heard about it. The builder gave the frame place a call and they had just started on silver so we stopped that immediately and black they now are.....phew! Silver would have fully killed my mojo. That's great progress. Congrats! What's the timeframe for completion? My house and my rants.... - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=26937 We are in!!!...and still unpacking. Thankfully there are always Tim Tams Re: Biff's Reno - BIG UPDATE 37Nov 06, 2010 9:14 pm Things have been moving quickly and I've been struggling to keep up. We have a handover date of the 17th of December which is awesome. I've had to skip a whole bunch of stuff in the middle as I didn't get photos of everything due to being quite busy at work and looking after my pregnant wife. It's only going to get worse now with the silly season upon us so I thought I would post a big update whilst I have the time. The outside is pretty much complete (as you can see in the second shot) with the painting finished and timber slats in place. The only real thing left to do is the backyard landscaping and I'm hoping to have the landscaper over sometime within the next few weeks. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0192.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0249.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0219.jpg The front (old) part of the house is not being forgotten. The front two rooms are getting new robes, carpet and paint job although these will be some of the last things done. Below is a shot of the hallway in progress and as it is now after the new skirtings and some paint. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0068.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0153.jpg Below is the stairs which will be carpeted. Above them is the ensuite shower which is still missing a large pane of glass on the near side. Both the architect and my kinky wife wanted the glass to be clear but I don’t think so! Opaque it will be. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0129.jpg The two shots below show the progress of the main living/kitchen area. The floors are American oak (white oak) which are currently filthy but will end up having a lovely satin finish. The kitchen is partly there. We are currently waiting on the 100mm ‘super white’ stone benchtop for the island and stainless steel for the rear bench. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0056.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0245.jpg A better example of a more finished American Oak. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/side_americanoak.jpg The downstairs bathroom/laundry is progressing well. Again we are waiting on the stone before the tiling can commence. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0194.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0244.jpg Directly below is the floor tile (it also surrounds the bath) of the main bathroom and the small white tile which will be the wall tile. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0136.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0174.jpg Upstairs is not to be neglected and part of our walk in robe was installed today. The ensuite vanity is also there but again waiting a silver travertine benchtop. Downlights, exhaust fans and heat lamps have been installed. The fourth shot down is the tile of the ensuite. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0247.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0187.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0215.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0172.jpg Below is the wall of the internal void. It is clad in the same silvertop ash as the outside and provides some continuity to the exterior. Our plasma will be recessed into the bottom part. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0163.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x85/bettsa/Other/IMG_0231.jpg Renovation Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38489 Re: Biff's Reno - BIG UPDATE 40Nov 22, 2010 8:57 pm what an awesome job you are doing.
