Like, is the base of both taps the same? Is the plumbing even the same, or will there be unexpected and expensive problems?? Thanks! How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Changing taps...will it look any good? 2Oct 08, 2010 11:14 pm I certainly wouldn't expect there to be any gaps. I think the plumber would be able to ensure that there isn't. However, just to make sure, why don't you cut and paste your post, and send it to a couple of local plumbers (I'm sure you'd find some contact details on local web pages). Then they could tell you for sure and certain, and give you a quote at the same time. Re: Changing taps...will it look any good? 3Oct 09, 2010 8:32 am You would need to measure the base plate sections to check. Most taps are a pretty generic fit. Personally I would go to your local hardware store - at least then you could return the new ones should they not fit for some reason. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Changing taps...will it look any good? 4Oct 09, 2010 7:51 pm YAY, thanks!! I've been to hardware stores around here. Nobody has the taps I want, not even Bunnings! They're just standard, the ones in the link I posted. Just white & gold trim taps, but nobody stocks them. Anyway, I'm gonna buy 'em! WOOOOO! lol How the hell did I become a senior member!? Considering it is for your vanity the taps should work as the only holes will be where the pipe comes through, which are pretty well standardised. The problem normally comes on tiled surfaces where the size of any gaps under the tiles can vary quite a bit. The only issue I can see, which will be easily sorted by the plumber anyway is a lot of older taps had the hot and cold feeds directly plumber, whereas it appears as if the new model will use flex pips to connect to wall mount taps. If your old taps are hard wired the plumber will put in the right connections, but it will cost more. If you already have flex pipes then it appears as if the kit you have brought has all the bits for the plumber to make it match your vanity. Re: Changing taps...will it look any good? 6Oct 09, 2010 9:44 pm That's all good. I doubt it'd cost much for them to swap the taps around. I'm excited! WOOO! lol How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Changing taps...will it look any good? 7Oct 20, 2010 9:11 pm Guess what. I ordered my beloved taps & also matching shower taps & showerhead, and they arrived on Monday but there'd been a mix up and they were NOT white & gold trim, they were stainless steel or whatever. NOO! So today the replacements arrived, and were sitting on my balcony where the couriers had left them (without my authority, mind you), and I have 2 cats who are indoor only so I always have to put them in the bathroom momentarily while I go out and get things from the balcony incase they escape (they're very fast), and I didn't do this for about an hour. When I went to go out and get the parcel, it was GONE. SOMEONE HAS STOLEN MY TAPS AND SHOWERHEAD!!!!! How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Changing taps...will it look any good? 8Oct 20, 2010 10:24 pm Holy cow. That is crap! Maybe it is a sign that you weren't meant to have those taps. I wonder if the courier is liable for anything like that as they didn't get you to sign, and you never received the goods? It could be worth looking into. Re: Changing taps...will it look any good? 9Oct 21, 2010 11:59 am Yes, I will be contacting them. I still can't believe someone actually just TOOK my stuff, from MY balcony, MY property!!! DISGUSTED! Whoever stole my taps / showerhead obviously wants to keep 'em. I emailed the seller, who is very kindly sending out another replacement parcel. They shouldn't have to do this, but thankfully they're good people UNLIKE whoever stole my items. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Changing taps...will it look any good? 12Oct 25, 2010 3:36 pm YAY, they're all here, safe and sound! They sent them by Express Post this time. WOOOO!!!! And they said I can keep the other (silver) wrong ones they sent, which I will. LOVELY PEOPLE! How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing!
