Re: Malvern Springs by Aga and Bob - getting there with SPH 14Oct 11, 2010 2:53 pm Hi Aga, We are also building in Malvern Springs, so far so good, not sure if we have a slab as yet but hopefully in next week we should have something. We purchased the block early 2009 and have been sitting on it ever since, have finally decided on what house to build after making the changes required by the esate (and gosh there was a few!!). I have only ever seen the block once, we are living in the Pilbara which makes it fairly hard, but I do like the area and like the fact that there are such strict guidlines set down by the estate, so atleast it will all look neat and tidy. We are building through Commodore Homes, and have only good things to say about them this far also. What colours have you chosen for your bathrooms, tiles , carpets etc? When we went to our prestart, we were told we must choose "earthy tones" to conform with the estate requirments, we chose charcoal/greys and Commodore weren't sure they would be approved, but all seems to be OK now and I see your home is fairly similar colours! What does earthy mean anyway ha - my interpretation may be very different to yours!! Happy building, it would be good to have another drive thru the estate and see what has gone up around us, I only ever saw the blocks when they were first released and there were very few homes around us! I always wanted everything in grey and charcoal tones so I didn't had any problem with requirements. We going to have charcoal paving , front is going to be rendered and painted Mourne Gray with garage door to be Lightning Ridge. The door is July Sky and all the windows and doors frames are Anodic natural ( this actually looks great - it looks like pearly silver) In my kids bathroom and laundry I went a bit crazy and mad the cabinets in blue with yellow - matching blue tiles for the floor. In the kitchen and ensuite I settled on Brushed silver laminate with velour finish. We weren't happy with the builders choices tile colors for the living area so I manage to persuade them to let me buy my own tiles and just deliver them on time. We had to have ceramic tiles but I found ones which look like porcelain - they are all white with tiny grey veins. I hope it will all look good together - my imagination and creativity ends at drawing the stick man. If you PM me your block location I can go from time to time and check on your house progress and let you know or send a pic or two. contract 10/11 prestart 04/10 slab 06/10 bricks 07/10 roof 09/10 plaster 10/10 Ceiling 10/10 LOCKUP 10/10 tiling wet areas 11/10 garage floor 11/10 PCI 12.01.11 handover 11.02.11 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=39361&hilit=malvern+springs We are in !!! Re: Malvern Springs by Aga and Bob - getting there with SPH 19Oct 11, 2010 4:19 pm I always wanted grey sort of modern tones too, but we weren't sure if thats what they considered OK to be earthy! Your bathroom and tile selections sound great, different but that is the idea isn't it! We found the builders choice of tiles and carpet very very limited, we ended up going with them anyway and just upgraded the underlay in hope that the carpet would last a little longer! The carpet was the ones we were most disapointed in, they are sort of thin looking very basic, but I guess you get what you pay for and being its our first home we weren't too concered. That would be great if you could keep an eye out on our block, I will PM you our lot number, the sales rep was going to let us know how things were going but we are yet to hear from him. When do you think your will be finished? Is there much activity going on down there at the moment? Also, when we brought the block we were told we would get landscaping & fencing, I presume you guys are the same, what is this like? Is the landscaping fairly decent or basic? Do you know if you are allowed to add your own plants etc to the front, or do they all have to be the same sort of set up? (sorry for all the questions !!)
