2 pac or high gloss internal doors?

Now that the doors have been hung and the skirting and architraves are in, our house is really taking shape.The doors I have chosen look really impressive. 2.4 high with moulding details, solid mdf. What am I looking to pay for 2 pac doors these days or should I get the painter to paint them hung with high gloss oil. I have approx 20 doors, diff. widths.

Two pack would be the most expensive option. You would need to take them to the spray business for them to be prep'd sprayed and baked or whatever it is that they do.

High gloss enamel would be able to be done onsite by your painter.

You would have to chat with your painter to see how much he would charge.

Oil based enamel is the pits to use - better finish then water based but oh so messy when actually using it / cleaning up. Hate the smell and feel of mineral turps to clean up.

Whats should I expect to pay for spraying the doors.

We were originally looking to get 2-pak doors for the kids wardrobes - one set was around 3m wide, and the others were about 1.5m - it was going to cost just under $3K - so went for white glass doors instead - like the ones SuH has on her wardrobes... not sure of the exact cost, but much cheaper

We also wanted 2 pak linen cupboards doors and were quoted $3k....opted for same paint as the walls.

McKinnon, find a house painter who has a 'HVLP spray gun' or an 'air assisted spray gun' who will spray your doors on site with enamel, this will provide close to a 2pack type finish, for little more than painting the doors by hand.
remember that enamell will yellow if it is plain white.

doors sprayed with water based enamel can also look very nice, will not yellow, and are hard wearing, though will not be anywhere near as shiny as 2pack/enamel

enamel doors should be just as shiny as 2pack, but you cannot expect a house painter on site to get quite as good a finish as a spray painter in a spray booth.

also, if your frames are the same colour as the doors they should be done in the same product, to ensure the age the same.

After about 10 phone calls I found someone to 2pac for $200 a door. The builder said ok, so they picked them up and guess what, the builder will cover the cost and he said you pay for the custom made front doors. I did the phoning not the builder
