Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 18, 2010 4:09 pm I'm choosing my colours for our kitchen now and the cabinetmaker mentioned a new acrylic product called Staron by Samsung. It's not stone but it looks in my opinion better than the Laminex equivalent. We're doing a 3m island bench with 70mm waterfall edges so Staron may be a more cost effective option. Anyone else going this option? Our "Better Homes Queensland" Cairns Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=40451 Current stage - 1st builder's clean done. Keys soon. Re: Anyone else using Staron acrylic benchtops? 2Sep 19, 2010 2:51 am We haven't got Staron but we have a very similar acrylic benchtop with a waterfall edge in our kitchen. There are several brand names but I've often seen others that look identical to ours. We've had it for around 18 months and it seems to wear quite well, the biggest plus with acrylic is that you're supposed to be able to get them buffed up easily if required. Our 3 year old has certainly given the waterfall edge a good test by constantly slamming his various cars and even ride ons into the side. The worst we have had is black scuff marks (it's a white colour called Alabaster). I can usually just wipe the scuffs off but I have a few marks that I'll need to try something like Gumption on when I get around to it :/ We've just built new bathrooms and put caesarstone benchtops on the vanities and one of them has already been chipped (in transit). It cost $150 to get the small chip polished out and now I'm really worried about how careful we'll need to be when we start using them day to day. Re: Anyone else using Staron acrylic benchtops? 3Sep 22, 2010 4:52 pm We've found out the price for Staron (acrylic) is actually more expensive by about $3000 compared to Caesarstone Osprey. I think we'll go with the Caesarstone! Our "Better Homes Queensland" Cairns Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=40451 Current stage - 1st builder's clean done. Keys soon. It's a classic case of aesthetics subjugating function where style takes precedence over practicality. 3 3945 Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again.
