Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New House - Springthorpe Estate Macleod - Custom Home 2Sep 15, 2010 12:46 pm Welcome to the forum, it's always a process, no matter who you build with as you will see from this forum, but it's good to have other people going thru the same drama's you are and to get some support. I grew up in Macleod and love the area - you have chosen a nice place to live - unfortunately waaaay out of our price range. Good luck with the rest of the build and yes pics on here are greatly sought after. Site Start: 10th September, 2010 PCI : Friday 27th January, 2011. Love your floorplan, cant wait to see your progress. Site Start: 10th September, 2010 PCI : Friday 27th January, 2011. I have searched the web and can't see to find many photos examples of an entire house covered with these tiles. Does anyone have any photos they could share using these type of tiles ? We have debating whether to go with a dark colour (Luna Eclipse/shadow) or a lighter charcoal colour. Re: New House - Springthorpe Estate Macleod - Custom Home 7Apr 22, 2011 11:37 pm Hi Vanders, your house is looking great, June is just around the corner and will be here before you know it. I'm glad you are happy with your builder and things are going well. We too had a good builder and a fantastic SS who knew what he was doing and pushed things along, our house is tiny compared to yours but we had our slab laid in Sept and we moved in 3rd Feb. Good luck with the rest of the build and keep us posted. Site Start: 10th September, 2010 PCI : Friday 27th January, 2011. Seems all have taken an extended break and won't be able to start until 2nd of may

My brother in law just finished a build down the road from you in sugarloaf drive, and my own build is progressing there as well. We just finished framing the first of three levels.... How I wish we had a flat block like yours. So much easier to build on. ..David My build: http://sugarloafdrivebuild.blogspot.com/ my house blog: http://sugarloafdrivebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: New House - Springthorpe Estate Macleod - Custom Home 10Apr 27, 2011 2:34 am Vanders, I'm hopeful that Rustic is finished up by Christmas, however that said we've already had a lot of weather related delays with all the rain affecting our foundation work. It's also a complicated build with some heavy foundation work and a lot of structural issues to think through. On top of that, I'm actually doing a partial owner-build. Rustic are doing the heavy lifting and getting the plasterboard up and doing my wet areas, but after that they hand over to me to finish it up all, the interior flooring, cabinetry, doors, kitchen and general fitout will be done by me. I'm also using my own HVAC and Electrical contractors. Not because I didn't trust Rustic to do the work, but more because I wanted hands on control of those aspects of the project. One day I might start my own build thread, but I'll probably wait until I'm permanently moved back to Melbourne from Seattle before I do that. I noticed your 2 youtube links were to the same video. Was there a video of your upper floor you meant to link to? What software did you use for rendering? I've been playing around with the Chief Architect products and they are very good for helping you visualize and plan your space, but I haven't tried to create a movie out of it yet. my house blog: http://sugarloafdrivebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: New House - Springthorpe Estate Macleod - Custom Home 11Apr 29, 2011 9:27 am dsiroky What software did you use for rendering? I used MyVirtualHome to create the video, if your fluent in Chief Architect you will have no problems using VirtualHome, Just ensure you have a powerful video card otherwise it can be a bit slow rendering when moving through the building etc. I know what you mean by weather delays, it was just my luck to have the wettest winter in 10 years in Melbourne during construction, it took forever to get to lock up thanks to the rain. How you finding managing the build from Seattle ? I suppose you collaborate with Gary via email most of the time ? We nearly bought land in Springthorpe but ended up at University Hill. Springthorpe's a gorgeous estate though. Best of luck with the build. I hear you have fibre broadband internet at University Hill ? I am struggling to get ADSL 1 in Springthorpe. Re: New House - Springthorpe Estate Macleod - Custom Home 17May 19, 2011 12:46 am We decided against it because of the restrictions on the builders you can use - we had fallen in love with a house already but wouldn't have been able to build it - plus the fall on the available lots was a little too much to build anything similar. Yes the fibre is a big bonus as i work from home. Already dreaming about it! I heard the ADSL was all full in Springthorpe, so you might be best with mobile broadband? Re: New House - Springthorpe Estate Macleod - Custom Home 18May 19, 2011 2:52 pm Sounds amazing - you must be desperate to move in! I know your street, gorgeous area. When we were looking it was a couple of blocks on Sugarloaf and Lookout (I think it was called something like that) that were serious slopes. We're building with Burbank, at lock up now so a few months to go for us still. We find where we are currently that the wireless internet is often faster than our ADSL2+ (we have both), so apart from it being a bit pricier, it should be a good substitute until they roll fibre out in your area. Yes I am hoping its quick enough to allow me to work from home, I don't want to trudge into the office everyday in the city if I don't have too. Have you got a thread/blog going for your build ? would love to see some pictures. 6 55344 Hi, can anyone recommend a custom home builder who can build in north east area?
