Native Lawns

Looking at native grasses as a lawn or grassed area alternatives, does anybody have any experiences, or pictures of where they have successfully sown native grasses.

Or is it a waste of time trying this in an ordinary suburban block.....

Some examples, if you have others please let me know.

Wallaby Grass

What about liriope???It loves the shade and as a positive will have flower shoots in summer - either pink, purple or white. It also going gets to approx 40cm so nice and neat

It is a very attractive plant, do you know how it handles kiddie lawn activities....as some of the sites I've looked at suggest it as a border....and can it be grown from seed?

You might need to consider the possibilities of bees if you’re using grass/plants that flower especially if it’s going to be a playground for young kids.

Why not try a grass like Empire Zoiysia - once settled - should survive on natural rainfall alone - plus only needs mowing once every 6 weeks in summer (less in winter)

May be a slight funding issue.....but may be some part of it may be in the mix.
