Thanks! To be honest, I'm a bit scared of using it. But then, I was very hesitant about Danish oil too, and that turned out to be a piece of cake. If I bugger it up, I figure I'll just remove it and go for some polyurethane instead. Re: Never pass up a bargain 59Sep 12, 2010 9:47 pm kexkez I found my own bargain today. Back about 3 years ago when we first moved and planned to get a woodfire I asked Mum to keep one of the 2 tin trunks she had, for us when she eventually moved. Anyway when she was getting ready to move this year I asked her about them and it turned out she'd given both away! The last only a month before I spoke to her . arghh I've been looking everywhere for one since but the only ones I've found have been between $80-200 and often in not very good condition. So today scrolling through a local buy and sell page on facebook I came across this and discovered it was still for sale. $20 thank you thank you thank you. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Needs a good sand and repaint. but perfect for what I want. yippee. During Winter it will be a wood box and will sit next to the wood fire and in warmer months the lid will be closed and it will serve as a little table. oh and btw kek Love that beautiful chair. I've got one of those babies myself Now I'm contemplating using it as a wood box too... The lady I bought it from had bought it herself planning to do it up as a toy box but then realised it wasn't a safe idea. DH doesn't like the colour and has suggested we paint it to match the fire which is black or at least grey/black. I won't be touching it for a while so he'll have to live with it as it is for now. That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 18361 |
