I caught word of the concrete truck guy saying something about seeing the other guys tomorrow, so who knows, we may even get a slab tomorrow! What a nice father's day pressie that would be! I have laughed so hard this morning about the slab invoice and the window frames getting delivered before the actual slab was poured!!! Unbelievable!! Lovely weather you're having over there, slab pour is looking beautiful ~ not to mention your gorgeous tree at the back is flowering. By the way, that trench around the outside of the slab is not by any chance your tree root barriers around your slab?? I'm guessing your 'normal' slab gets poured over the top? We got some sad news yesterday we are losing our ss he was really great, so disappointed. He told Dh he was leaving in a week was hoping he would last and finish our house, he is our 3rd ss. Wish they could get there act together, and keep good people. I would like to post some pictures up like you have done do I need to load them onto photobucket and specify a size when uploading them (novice here). Really pleased that things have started to progress. Re: Westy's Demo/Rebuild in Perth - it's started! 165Sep 04, 2010 11:55 am Bagheera wow westy - I'm so glad for you - finally something!! Really pleased that things have started to progress. It would be great if you could put up some pics. Yes, you need to open a photobucket account (which is free) and then you can just click the big green 'upload images' button on the site and select the pics to upload. You can change the size of them using photobucket. Then the tricky part is getting them on here (but really it's easy). When you open a picture on photobucket you will get a box that says "Share this image". From there you just copy the code in the "IMG Code" box and paste it into your post on here. Hopefully that helps. Re: Westy's Demo/Rebuild in Perth - it's a SLAB!! 167Sep 04, 2010 3:30 pm Hi Westy congrats mate! Bad news though - it got damaged today. Some &%$#@! obviously decided it was in their way when they were doing the sewer connections and a large branch has been ripped off the tree. I haven't seen it in person but I am very annoyed as it has taken off a fair amount of bark off the trunk, and you can see the branch on the ground: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Possibly the same dolt has also driven over one of the reinforcing bars for the front portico pillar and flattened it: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They can't avoid this one cause there are some telltale tracks leading up to it. They also left a massive mound of sand on the slab from digging down the side, so goodness knows what they are doing with it. The site supervisor and admin have both been emailed with photos so we'll see what they say about it all. Oh, and happy 300 posts to me... Re: Westy's Demo/Rebuild in Perth - it's a SLAB!! 179Sep 08, 2010 11:28 pm Hey westy ~ congratulations on your slab! At long last! Hooray! Boo to that idiot that ripped that branch from the tree. BTW, so long as the tree is not ring-barked, it should survive the damage done to it. As for the reinforcing steel rod, similar thing happened to mine but they just straigtened it up when they began bricking.
