Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: Hairline cracking in shower tiles 10Sep 01, 2010 8:26 am I would be contacting your builder. We have just had our whole shower replaced an the builder stated that the shower was covered as it was considdered as part of your structural warranty. Our builder offers 15 years structural so if any thing happens up till this time in the shower i will be contacting them. Re: Hairline cracking in shower tiles 11Sep 01, 2010 11:40 am This is certainly the builders/tilers problem there a many reasons why they have cracked.
1. Tiler did not use enough thin set (tile adhesive) behind the tile. 2. Tiler used the wrong thin set cement mortar instead off flexi thin set which should be used to handle any movement or mastic is a good product to use. 3. Tile was already cracked and got worse over time. I would get a professional in to do this if you live in Brisbane we can help if the builder does not want to know about it. Craig Re: Hairline cracking in shower tiles 12Sep 01, 2010 11:55 am I have the same problem in my shower and the builder is fixing it. We discovered ours 2 days after our 3 month inspection that actually occured 9 months after we moved in!! Re: Hairline cracking in shower tiles 13Sep 01, 2010 4:19 pm Southies  this is the last thing I expected & REALLY REALLY don't have the motivation to contact EB, after I was so happy to see the back of them Don't want to be rude, but if this is the case then why even ask the question? If you really don't want to see the builder again and your willing to pay to fix the problem then it is a no brainer in my book. Re: Hairline cracking in shower tiles 14Sep 01, 2010 8:48 pm Thank you so much everybody for your advice. I will wait another month or so to see if further cracking eventuates & then I will be contacting the builder. They can sort this out Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Hairline cracking in shower tiles 15Sep 01, 2010 8:49 pm AJW Southies  this is the last thing I expected & REALLY REALLY don't have the motivation to contact EB, after I was so happy to see the back of them Don't want to be rude, but if this is the case then why even ask the question? True we do need to vent , but rather than coming on asking a question you don't actually want the answer to, why not just openly vent. Not everyone reads every thread and I had no idea from the post that the OP had issues with their builder, had I know this was a vent rather than a serious question I for would have saved my time and effort by not answering. I think we all need a little bit of support sometimes .. . 1 6659 I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says.
