Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Aug 29, 2010 4:18 pm Hello. I bought an old weatherboard house with brick skirting around two sides (they do not support the house, just for looks). A pest report recommends increasing the amount of air flow under the house so I have removed three bricks along one side (there is already existing flow entry on the two non-brick sides of the house already). I bought aluminium vents which go into the holes where the bricks were removed. Obviously the vents need to be secured, do I just use a brick cement mix or is there another product around that is more suited to fixing aluminium to brick surfaces? Thanks in advance, Greg. Re: Fixing aluminium vents in brick work 2Aug 29, 2010 10:57 pm Hi greg & welcome to the forum, I had a vent put in the side of my new solid brick house (to save the space for a future cat door ) & the bricky just fixed it in with mortar. Hope that helps. I can get you a pic if you like? Re: Fixing aluminium vents in brick work 3Aug 30, 2010 11:35 am Hi, who do you actually call to have some vents installed (and others replaced) if you are not able to do the work yourself ? Home maintenance person? Brickie? Would they scoff at such a small job? Re: Fixing aluminium vents in brick work 5Aug 30, 2010 1:46 pm I would "glue" the vents on with silastic. Not all the way around, just a few dabs to hold it in place. Later, if you want to replace the vent you can put a blade in a cut the silatic. But with how builder gouge on AC/heating, you… 4 1009 I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says.
