Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Aug 26, 2010 2:53 pm We are currently looking at Fremantle Stone, Quartz exposed aggregate pavers for our alfresco because they look nice, are a good quality paver and well priced. However we're concerned they are a little rough because the while the stones are exposed, they aren't polished down like some others. Can anyone advise if they have used these in an outdoor living space before and what they are like under foot? Especially if you have used them and have children in your home, what are your thoughts on using them as the main surface area of the backyard? Or do you have something similar that you recommend instead? Many thanks, Re: Has anyone used these particular Pavers? 2Aug 26, 2010 6:06 pm I personally think they are more for driveways - I recommend the limestone paving - Follow Feggle viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34992 Follow lilfeggle viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37149 Asbestosis Sux! We have paved around a pool area and under our patio with the freo stone limestone pavers. We did have a mixture of concrete, pebblecrete and dark pavers in these areas, and on top of the unnecessary variations, we found that they were all quite hot under foot. I'll never forget the day we had some friends over with a 6 month old who crawled out of the shadow of the shade sails and onto some dark pavers and started bawling. We didn't know why he was crying until his Mum got up and strolled over to pick him up and burnt her own feet on the dark pavers. Our limestone pavers are really nice to look at (I think so anyway), and are quite cool under foot, even on a 40 degree day. Now we have kids, I don't have to worry While it isn't a great shot of the pavers, you can see the result in the photo below; http://i801.photobucket.com/albums/yy298/mypatio_photos/IMG_2960Medium.jpg As title suggests, looking at using the interlocking Pentablock stacked stone products to replace failing timber retaining… 0 17864 Appreciate that Chippy. I won’t do sand under pavers and will connect all up under pavers, however I was going to do: 1) Roadbase compacted with manual hand tamper 2)… 10 18563 |
