Hi all.
The name's Mav and I'm a I.T. Network engineer with 25 years experience and until today I thought i had seen and heard it all
I have just discovered this forum after Googling Tel$tra velocity, I have been reading your posts on your experiance with Tel$tra Velocity with extereme interest,
I am currently doing some work at a private premises in the Laurimer Estate in Doreen in Melbourne's North East and have hit the Tel$tra Birck Wall with regards to having to get every thing from Tel$tra Big Problem including the Tel$tra home phone full service despite there actually being nothing in the terms and conditions saying that you have to have a active, connected Telstra home phone full service from Tel$tra either in the Part H terms and conditions and pricing or the Telstra Velocity Wiring Guide which is nothing short of a load of Croc both documents are nothing short of false and misleading at very best and at worst are deliberately evasive.
My client dose NOT want ANT a Full phone service from any of the main players but instead wants to use a VoIP service from a VoIP provider which I fully support.
The VoIP services are so good and so rock solid now that they just never fail and are 1/10 of the price of the service from a regular player like dare I say Tel$tra.
How ever I have just discovered after reading a post on Whirlpool ( http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/916979 ) That Tel$tra has a technical embargo in place to stop people using VoIP in Telstra Velocity Cabled estates and to force people to use a Tel$tra connected land line and pay Tel$tra's exhorbitant OTT ( Over The Top ) call prices. All the client wants is a Foxtel service, FTA TV Service, and a Broadband Service of which 2 of the 3 are from Tel$tra any way I don't know what their problem is they would really like to be able to have Internet from IInet but at the end of the day they is never going to happen.
Unfortunately my client was not told about any of this stuff until she had literally paid the last of the money and received the keys last Friday 20/08/2010
I have spent the entire day on the phone to the TIO ( Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman ) ACCC ( Australian Competition and Consumer Commission ) & the ACMA ( Australian Communications and Media Authority ) and have brought actions against Tel$tra by all 3 to have this CR@P over turned this is not only anti competitive which is clearly against Australian Law but it also reeks of double standards and Hypocrisy to say the very least.
And Tel$tra wonder why people are leaving them in droves maybe they should have as good look at the way they operate and the restrictions they place on people and the misinformation that they deliberately give out to people who might not other wise know better.
The more I investigate this the less I can believe what it is that I am reading and finding out i'd more call these estates
I'm just wondering on other peoples final out comes have been with this and has any one managed to beat it or dose any one have any contacts in Tel$tra to get around this cr@p
Regards
Mav.
