Re: Do we need a concrete pump? 9Aug 15, 2010 8:55 am boom pump which is what you will have is app. for a 3 stage boom $700+plus, min. charge, app. $120 hr + after min. hr allowance in first charge app. $8 a cubic meter through the pump. The builder also has a margine on top generally 20% ++. slabs are impossible to pour with barrows If there is a hold up in aggitators then the pump guys still get paid by the hour hence the builders margin and base line profit for the builder. $1800 sounds pretty reasonable for a boom pump through a builder. If you were an owner builder then there would be no margin for a builder only pump charge. Really wish it wasnt sooo expensive! but hey one of the joys of building! Because I would assume this is required in all case and automatically forms part of the price. If a builder came back and asked for me to pay extra for steel i see this as the same thing as you cant get by without it. Re: Do we need a concrete pump? 12Aug 16, 2010 1:13 pm Pretty simple: 1) All slabs are done with a concrete pump. It's the most cost effective method. 2) Concrete pump is about $800 to $1k per a full day (you'll probably need if less than a day, so more like $600) 3) You shouldn't be charged any extra for a concrete pump since this is the way it's done (if it's a boom pump, as davinci suggests, then you should only pay the difference between a conventional and boom concrete pump, which I suspect is only about $400 per a day (guess only)) Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Do we need a concrete pump? 13Aug 16, 2010 1:36 pm the Wheelbarrow method in perspective. Question - What is the volume of your every-day "run of the mill" Wheellbarrow? Answer - approx 0.169 cubic metres (6 Cubic Feet) Question - How many Cubic Mtrs of concrete in a House Slab? Answer - Each pour is different but it would be safe to say somewhere around 27 - 30 cubic mtrs?? maybe more?? I'll let someone else work out the total number of wheelbarrows needed to move that volume of concrete. Re: Do we need a concrete pump? 14Aug 16, 2010 2:33 pm I would advise anyone to stay well clear of the site after rejecting the use of a concrete pump to pour a house slab ![]() Re: Do we need a concrete pump? 15Aug 16, 2010 3:23 pm good point bstar, maybe ask why it wasnt in the contract for reasons bstar pointed out Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: Do we need a concrete pump? 16Aug 16, 2010 10:43 pm ![]() ![]() ![]() I have to laugh. Most of our slabs are poured by hand. ![]() Steer clear if you want but we have a fair bit more control and we can place it with an 80 slump mix. ![]() Most of a slab can be poured by the shute(s)Access to front and side permitted. >0.1 per barrow 10 points per cubic mtr average slab 20 cu mtrs 2 or 3 barrows for a large pour. (1 barrow every 60 sec x 3 ) X (20 cu mtrs = 200 points) (200 / 3 = 66.6 per barrow loads each) So in a couple of hours it could be possible to discharge 20 cu mtrs. Though the granos need to be able to keep up. It takes about 40 mins to screed 5 cu mtrs per grano and achieve a good compaction ratio.
