Just bought a shop and 2 dwellings in the NOrth of Melbourne. Will be converting the two dwellings into our first home together and will be renting out shop. The house was built in the 20's or 30s. We'll be gutting most and starting a fresh. Very exciting but nervy as well. All things going well, hopefully in the new place in 12 months time. Hopefully costing under $200k. I've started my own thread "Nonna's nest" if you're interested in reading about tortures I may go through. thanks for having me... it may become my new addiction. We are in FNQld and have 20ac that we are half way through building on. Sorry for the rant, I just get excited when I hear of someone in Young...has lots of special memories. Have spend many weekends looking around at house designs to get an idea of what we like but not anticipating building for another couple of years so plenty of time to stop lurking and hang out on this forum a bit more. Re: Introductions Please! 272Aug 28, 2010 6:51 pm Hi, Another Melbourne dweller here, currently doing a few renovations on the house and have been enjoying getting ideas from the forum. We are also in the west (in the same suburb as the PM, as of today anyway) and it's freezing here. Especially with half my walls down exposed to the elements! ...oh and yes we do have a dog Re: Introductions Please! 273Aug 30, 2010 10:31 pm Hi, All the information boggles my mind! Very useful and inspiring though, and am sure that I'll be here a lot! I'm a newbie on this forum, hoping to get land titled in November in the outer south east of Melbourne. Am planning to build with Fairhaven homes. Building for the second time, just as excited as last time but perhaps also a bit reluctant... My husband, Sascha, and I moved to Brisbane from the Netherlands in June 2007. We decided to build our own house after our most recent trip to our family in Holland. And within two weeks we found the perfect location in Moggill (West Brisbane). After visiting a couple of display villages we fell in love with the Aspire 28 from Metricon. At the moment we are tweaking the design and all the details of the house. At the same time, we are waiting for the ok from the bank (hopefully that will happen on Monday) and the date of settlement of the land. All and all very exciting, especially as it is the very first time we will be building our house and the first time we will be buying in Australia! I am so glad I found this forum, and will definitely be using all the tips posted on the forum! Cheers, Carola Re: Introductions Please! 279Sep 04, 2010 5:43 pm Hi carola-and welcome!
