Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Double glazing suppliers Perth 11Aug 12, 2010 6:29 pm Thanks Evelin - The usual response from people regarding installing DG in Perth is that you're wasting your time and money as you "don't need it here" I guess you don't need a car if you are happy to still travel with a horse and cart! I suppose it's the same with everything, you don't know what you're missing it if you've never had it in the first place. If DG was as affordable as it is in other locations, I'm sure more people would install it and would be not only be accepted, but demanded as "standard" fitment in new builds as it is in most other parts of the world. Re: Double glazing suppliers Perth 12Aug 13, 2010 11:30 pm Croc Couldnt agree more! I cant wait to have my double glazed windows so my house is quiet and cool!!!! Those that say we dont need it here have rocks in their heads ... or been in the sun too long!!!!! I have started to collect quotes. My first one is $27,000 for a 4x2 house, single storey, incl. removal of old windows. The two bay windows facing north would be tinted and laminated. What surprised me that the owner of the business didn't make any effort to give any detailed information, eg warranty of the product, delivery time etc. Nothing, just two sheets of paper with the pictures, sizes and prices per window. I had given him my house plan and sizes of each windows and how is should look andoperate. In Germany I could order the windows online, free delivery and install them ourselves, easy. Re: Double glazing suppliers Perth 14Jan 22, 2012 11:52 pm Hi, I'm currently looking for quotes for double glazing at our house in Kalamunda. Rates very comparative to standard aluminium windows. Re: Double glazing suppliers Perth 16Feb 03, 2012 7:20 pm Northern_Suburbs Hi - Maybe try North Shore Double Glazing - here is a link top their online form for a quick quote http://www.northshoredoubleglazing.com.au/#!quick-quote I have just used these guys and they were far cheaper than any of the competitors quotes I received - I am very happy with the quality and service too. If you have any questions feel free to shout. Hi, do you know if the windows have been manufactured in Perth or in China? thanks Re: Double glazing suppliers Perth 17Feb 11, 2012 12:58 am Hi There, I went and saw what was on offer from these guys when I was last in Perth. http://www.casverwindowsystems.com.au/P ... le-Glazing No affiliation whatsoever but the product looked very good and the price was very reasonable. I am having the specified windows swapped out of my build and these put in. All in all it was not much difference in the scheme of things. Would interested to know if anyone else has used these guys and their experiences as I have not signed yet. The other issue I have is how to do the curtains and screens. I guess curtains you can step and route the rail out further to accommodate the inward opening but not sure about the fly screens. The aussie salute is very alive and well in Perth during the summer. Apologies mods if I have breached any rules by posting links but wanted to get opinions and am responding to the OP on what appears to be a competitive quote. Ciao Mark Re: Double glazing suppliers Perth 18Feb 11, 2012 10:07 am it's really like the question: how long is a piece of string. within the house. We had around 40k to do stuff when we had hand over. We bought paint, carpets, aircon, cork, and blinds and some fencing. carpets( 7,000) additional flooring( in our case cork$ 13,000) curtains( 500) curtain rails (~100 cheap arse ones) blinds (~2500) paint( $1200 and thne plus rollers, tarps, brushes etc) additional towel rails ( ~$200+) additional cupboards for laundry ( ~$150) Wall Cabinet for ensuite ( still to buy but ~ $200) Garage shelving ( ~300 when we do it all) Aircon. was more than 12,000 Fire: 2nd hand $500 Outside we are on 3.4 of a acre but so far have spent easily more than $16,000 prob more than $20k We have no patio, have additional fencing to do for some privacy Garden shed( $600 ish to do still) Hoses so far remembering we already had some. We've bought 2 additional hoses and new sprinklers. fencing paving driveway soil lawn garden plants Re: Double glazing suppliers Perth 19Feb 14, 2013 3:02 pm I would like to know how you went with your EcoVue experience (service and final quality). I am looking at their product upvc windows and doors as well. Re: Double glazing suppliers Perth 20Feb 16, 2013 11:14 pm I spoke to Will at ecovue, heres my assesment. Great looking product. Windows/ Doors:Made in china(so's my phone and tablet) He spoke to be about titanium dioxide making the product UV stable which rang alarm bells because I only know it as a Pigment. When I googled it later ,pardon my ignorance I discovered it was the main constiuent in suncream My Dur! I like the product but 25% of the product price for installation seems steep. Things seem quiet at the moment and I reakon you could tramp him on price(worth a try) The other issue is our German friends(Ecovues competitor) dont usually do blinds inbetween because that means a seal from the glass cavity to external (Maunal) actuator. Apparently our German cousins are concerned that eventually the seal will fail allowing the release of the Argon,Xenon gas thus reducing the efficiency. When they do do blindsthe germans have a fancy series of motors inside the cavity but the blinds have a maximum length of less than 2 m as a consequence of the design. Having said that the ecovue Blinds look Fantastic however how longs that seal going to last 10 years? 20 years? and how would you know when your inert gas has leaked away? That begs the question why bother Double Glazing? maybe someone in the Industry like Ed@ Ecoclassic could give us a heads up on the issue? Dont forget to use toughened Glass. Do you really want to take a tipsy teenager/ silly kid's hand off. Laws governing this on Double glazing are trailing legislation for single glass. I am convinced most people dont realise how lethal a lot of glass is. In a perfect world we would perhaps all have custom made aluminium windows/doors with a thermal break (Probably from Deutschland). In the real world ecovue provides a very real alternative......(but i'd do further study before paying for blinds-Seal issue) Im open to any thoughts from people who have Double Glazing installed or sell the stuff. I'm trying to educate myself at the moment.
