There are some people in the yellow pages who do it, but I've heard mixed feedback about these services. Here's a few things that may give you some info.... Only wool or nylon carpets can be re-dyed, (but not solution dyed nylons). You can generally dye carpets darker than the existing colour, but the palette of colours available will depend on the existing colour. I think (don't quote me) it costs around $16> per square metre, so the important consideration is whether or not the carpet is of sufficient value to spend that money on it. Unless the carpet is in very good condition with good life expectancy, it often is not a cost effective exercise. Carpets need to thoroughly cleaned before dying (which is normally included in their overall charge). Room will need to be totally emptied, and masked up to do the job. Your problem with rapid soiling of the carpet could be because of all sorts of reasons. If I had more info, I may be able to help you overcome this issue without going to the expense of re-dying.
