I am in the middle of constructing some new beds atm and i read clever tip on a website where they cut small pieces of pvc pipe (to the height of the timber edge) and attached them inside of each side with a bracket. They then used another long thin bit of pvc pipe inserted in one side of the cutoff pipe and bent over into the other pipe insert to form a arch. Bird netting/plastic/shade cloth etc can then be easily drapped over the bed when needed and then easily hidden away the rest of the year.
Re: My vegie garden plan 57Jul 13, 2010 1:11 pm That's exactly the first thing I thought of Beatrix! As it is Lisa those posts have given to a very handy spot for draping bird netting or attaching trellis/wire to for climbing peas & beans. After a 20 minute hunt I couldn't find it so I called my brother - he said he'd bring one around in 30 minutes. In typical fashion I then found it! With my spirit level in hand I then went about measuring where to put them and the spaces for pathways etc and then I dug up the soil to level the ground... I would have taken photo's of it today BUT then Erin came around and we took her puppy dogs for a walk. Oh and I ran out of nails part way through today - I needed 5 extra nails so I had to go aaallllll the way to Bunnings just to get 5 nails, but of course I couldn't just get 5 nails, no - I had to get another 140!! I'm kinda sore and feeling old right now and I still have to fill them with soil - hopefully tomorrow or next weekend! 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.'
