Roller blinds would be the easiest but dont you think they would be too plain and modern for my 1880's English oak table and chairs and all my traditional furniture? Or maybe it would be OK? I just dont know. I am having roller blinds in the adjacent family room so maybe I should just wait until they are up in three weeks time and then decide. Thank you everyone. Re: wide window with a bulkhead immediately above it 8Jul 14, 2010 10:46 pm Romans are definitely a possibilty. I have two windows that are approx 2.5m wide and 2m high and both have romans on them. They are custom made and for a roman that size they recommend a chain mechanism rather than a cord mechanism. Apparently it is kinder on the blind when pulling it up. The material is quite heavy with a bonded blackout backing and I've had no problems so far. I can post some pics for you tomorrow if you like. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: wide window with a bulkhead immediately above it 10Jul 15, 2010 10:06 am Here are some pics of the two romans up. (Sorry they are a bit glarey, it's actually sunny here this morning! ) They don't seem too bulky even when they are fully up. From memory, my blinds lady said that they will do up to 3m across. You can see the chain mechanism to the right in the first pic. If you need anymore pics, let me know.
