As long as there were no provisional cost items included in your quote and you have a guarantee in writing that the price wouldn't change, then you are within your right to not have to pay any more for their oversight/ommission. Our site costs were quoted the same as another job in the same estate the sales rep put through just before us however ours turned out a bit more as we had retaining walls.. we also have a concrete plumbing provision in there which probably wont get used. just remember that you are entitled to ask for a receipt for all the siteworks carried out and you do not have to pay them if they cannot produce a receipt. Good luck! I work for a building company that does provide fixed price contracts. We take a deposit and make sure what we price is 100% accurate. If we missed something like that, we wouldnt even tell you, it would just be done In my opinion, provisional costs should be almost against the law! We jhave the same thing, a retaining wall that we need to build on our block that is marked as 'by owner', so we need to pay for it to be built ourselves. just83, you haven't said muchabout the retaining wall, how long and how high doe it need to be? And what material is it/does it need to be made out of? Re: UNPROFESIONAL BUILDER OR EXPECTING TO MUCH??? 7Jun 30, 2010 9:34 am Sorry, I missed that. Site works by owner, I have not run into that before but I guess it would make it easier for some builders to give a fixed price by doing that. As Joannapaulp mentions, could you give the details of the retaining wall requirements? I guess they don't like there clients talking about there experience on a forum like this. I believe that just about says every thing about them . Any how the retaining wall would have only needed a little bit added on, that wasn't the point from day one thaey had a full site survey to work of and it took till draughting to notice that the pad came out past the retaining wall. Back to the drawing board Re: UNPROFESIONAL BUILDER OR EXPECTING TO MUCH??? 9Jun 30, 2010 10:23 am Really?!?! wow... Like I said earlier, you are right. They should have noticed that long ago. I believe i was just telling the truth of my experience and asking any one else if they've had a similar problem. Re: UNPROFESIONAL BUILDER OR EXPECTING TO MUCH??? 12Jun 30, 2010 10:46 am I work on the East coast of AU and can recommend in Vic, NSW, Qld, SA and Tassie but my knowledge of WA and NT is limited. I hear great stories about Dale Alcock homes but that is the extent of my knowledge on specific builders over there. I wish I could be of more assistance. If you do a bit of research on this forum though, you will find a lot of people willing to share their experiences. Hi DnD building highly recommended Ultimo constructions highly recommended They will look after you Re: UNPROFESIONAL BUILDER OR EXPECTING TO MUCH??? 15Jul 18, 2015 10:15 am Hi Just83 I think you are lucky you got a refund, as the builder has the right to deduct any costs incurred in the preparation of plans. Also you should have been made aware of the retaining costs before the salesman accepted your deposit. Its a fair outcome Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: UNPROFESIONAL BUILDER OR EXPECTING TO MUCH??? 16Jul 18, 2015 1:46 pm Wow, can't believe they did that! I guess it's good for you to be shot free of them.. with your money back but wow! Other builders on these forums just try to help their customers when they post about something going wrong, and you weren't even saying something bad about them just asking a question about whether what they had said was right or not. Re: UNPROFESIONAL BUILDER OR EXPECTING TO MUCH??? 17Jul 18, 2015 3:37 pm just83 Kid81 you being in the industry, could you maybe recomend any good builders in Perth W.A??? My reccomendation would be to avoid DAH like the plague. Their performance is too erratic and it's all about volume for them rather than quality. Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20434 7 12028 |
