Ive got Commodore Wagon too, i was using the wagon to get stuff around before the ute also ... just so much easier now with the ute.

looking good & I'm loving all the photos. Question, how come your alfresco doesn't have a concrete floor? isn't it under the roof line and therefore part of the slab?

We asked for it to be outside of the roof line with no slab either ... The plan is to put a decking over the Alfresco area at house level, so we were only going to pay for a concrete slab in the alfresco for no reason as it will be covered anyway with decking .... And the roof line will be All clear lazerlight sheeting to weather proof the area at about 500mm above roof line, then ill build a suspended merbau decked roof under that to match the floor and hide the lazerlight. The roof will allow some light to come in through the gaps during the day and light up the kitchen, dining and lounge area, but shouldnt be noticeable ... Its all part of the big picture, just got to get it built and do it all.

Will look something like this .... But actual Merbau, PD here have just pine and stained it so it doesnt quiet match the decking on the floor.
Notice the Light coming through the gaps still

In all honesty, i did sort off take that photo and think of your comment earlier about you liking the Lobby. I wondered if you were going to comment on the image, and here you are.
My DW loves the Lobby too. I like it simply cos it takes the bedroom off the Main Living area a bit, and it may also allow me to sleep in a bit better when the kids get older and get up early, possible a bit better with noise. Photos will always keep coming

Love your idea for the decking, we want to do a similar thing with the wood on the roof as well. You were lucky with not getting a slab under that area, we tried to have no slab but were told we had to because of our site classification

I will get back to you about the fencing - we are 19m frontage?? I think & a little narrower at the back??? I am hopeless with measurements will have to ask dh. Would love for you to take it up as side job & help us out but dont feel obligated. See how you feel after you have done yours & then decide! Where are you again??? We are in Doreen (Laurimar).

Hey - Good pics and What a coincidence.... we are also building with NBG in PC..jst wanted to confirm if you were charged around 5K extra for bricks over the windows all around the house ??? Just wondering if it is not covered as a part of the construction costs earlier!? Pls respond..

Space ... Yeah we wanted a big alfresco area, ours will be 4m wide by about 7.6m long (once we extend out to the Fenceline)

It is soo strange how some builders put everything in the 'Too Hard Box'. I guess the Alfresco can still turn out the same once the deck goes down, but it did save a lot not having the slab or roof there. Your place is coming along nicely though, still in front of me with our little race to the finish line :n:

Anytime I have time i get on H1. Yes windows delivered, and should be getting installed as i write this reply, also had brick delivered yesterday and brickies are onsite today bricking my garage up

PM me with the Fence measurements, ill see how i go with the bub coming and doing Froggers Deck. Ive half done my fence and its not actually a difficult job. I caught up with the neighbour on the otherside of my house yesterday and he saw me doing my own fence, we spoke about doing the other side (my/his boundry) and he is happy for me to do it. Bonus, hopefully another quality fence coming up around Aug/Sep :lol:

Thanks bek, my biggest problem is that i really enjoy doing it all myself, my DW says I remind her sometimes of that Colorbond Commercial with the man that admires the finished product of his colorbond roof, apparently she has walk out numerous times before and caught me staring at what im doing.

Point Cook, really nice area in there. NBG dont, like most builders (from my experience) have the infilled bricked over the windows or garage doors as per standard, it seems to always be an extra cost. Ive PMed you anyway, have a read.

And actually so easy to do. If anyone is thinking of doing it to there place though, and using Merbau instead of the pine in the pic earlier (as i am), make sure you use decking screws and not twist nails on them all. Most use pine and screws due to it being lighter, Merbau will pull out over time with its weight unless its screwed up (even some liquid nails between the rafters and the topside of the deck as well as screw would be even stronger)

Fencing is getting there, all holes are dug out 600mm to 700mm deep. nearly all the posts are up, cant get there till Friday afternoon to finish it off now though. Likewise Frogger, was good putting a face to a name

Everyone keeps saying it looks so big, and the DW is starting the wonder about cleaning it. I just tell her "Youll be right" :lol:

"I might offer to look after the floors still though" :roll:

OMG That BBQ is sensational. Did you have to put in a window anywhere else or were you lucky enough to already have 2 in that room. Geez, I would love to have something like that in our backyard. Actually, the whole backyard looks fantastic. I'm going to have to sit my DH down tonight and get him all jealous so he wants to do something like that for us haha.

And we've got 2 acres to fill :::
