"prevent it - not possible" Your query indicates what is a very common misconception about sealers. There are different kinds of sealers, but most of them are not a water-tight barrier. Must admit, this may go beyond my experience on the topic, but I don't believe it is a practical objective to try to seal a stone water feature.
