They have taken more work then they can actually do due to home owners grant etc. My site start date was in May and I haven't got the slab yet. All those excuese, it's raining, site is wet, someone died, WTF. What stage are you with them? looking, signing contract etc ...... Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 3Jul 23, 2010 8:50 pm we are at the stage of signing off on the finals to go to council. I am getting kind of freaked out as i have heard reviews similair to yours We are in to deep now and just need to hope we have a happy experience with them. Thanks for your reply Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 4Jul 23, 2010 9:04 pm Hi, We are building with Firstyle at the moment. Our slab went down around the 10th July, we where delayed a couple weeks due to the rain, but glad to see the rain has not returned. We have found both the Construction Manager and our Site Manager to be very helpful to date. Our site manager has been working very closely with us on some custom changes we requested which is great. Which house design you going with? Their customer service is good so far as mcintosh25 mentioned. They return the calls and try to follow up. I am working with SH (contruction mangager) and she is fine so far. Haven't met or spoken to site manager yet. Also, in our nighbourhood we have family who built with FS and they seems to be happy about the quality of work. mcintosh25..We are building Newbury32. We had our slab yesterday. It's nice and smooth on one side but rough and chipped on the other side. Maybe it's normal and not a big deal, I have to talk to site manager about it. It's good to see your photos, pls keep us posted. I will try to load some pictures. Thanks Ocn ...... Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 7Aug 01, 2010 12:16 pm You slab was rough when first laid, a couple days later they put a smooth layer on top. Our frame started going up on Thursday / Friday but rain has made it slow going pictures updated showing the frame for the first floor. http://picasaweb.google.com.au/mcintosh ... ngProject# Building a Newbury33 with Firstyle Homes @ Casula Progress Photos http://picasaweb.google.com.au/mcintosh25/NewHouseBuildingProject# Pool: 12/05/2010 Site started: 26/06/10 Slab: 19/07/2010 Frame started: 29/07/10 Frame completed: 18/08/10 Bricks started: 25/08/10 Roof started: 5/10/10 Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 8Aug 01, 2010 1:41 pm Hi Guys...Nothing much happening for me. Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 12Aug 05, 2010 7:50 pm We are building an Alfresco we made it a little larger than the standard size but with doing mean we got hit with another increase cost and due to we had to upgrade the underwater tank for basix approval based on total roof space also we had to upgrade the gas hot water based on basix requirements for increased total roof size. Re Liquataion demages ours had nill also. I did ask for this to be changed with no luck, i have had friends who have had this and never seen a sent as clause also has 1hr rain within metro area = 7 business days of delay. This has been an after thought as i have been assuming all along that it would be the builders responsibility to fully install these items complete with power source. Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 19Aug 22, 2010 12:07 am As far as I remember we didn't pay for thoes. Ocn ...... Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 20Aug 22, 2010 12:18 pm We did not pay for these either. We have a 55000ltr underground tank we had to upgrade to meet basix requiments due to total roof space. We also had to upgrade out gas hotwater system to a V1500 Rianni to meet basix requiments. We did not find out about these upgrade to our plans got back from council and cost an extra $1600 then got hit with another charge for the underwater tank for peging it out near the storm water mains. but worth it for the not wasting limited backyard space on tanks.
