Do you have a quiet kettle?

All going well, we should be on the move in a few months and in my opinion, a new house is worthy of a new kettle!
I know there are some kettles that are marketed as being quiet, but are they really? Our kettle sounds like a steam train rushing through a valley. DP is always the first up, but he hangs out for a coffee because he doesn't want to wake me up with the kettle

So, is your kettle quiet as it gathers momentum? If so, what is it because I'd love to buy one!

We're also on the lookout for a good toaster that actually toasts rather than putting 3 small brown spots on the bread. Why is it that toasters seem to run out of puff after a month?

$10 white kettle from Kmart. Absolutely silent.

Oceanus get a toaster like mine-they are more costly than the average cost of a toaster. I don't expect this thing to run out of any puff anytime soon.

We have a Sunbeam cordless kettle, have had it for about 4 years, no new kettle for new house here, was happy with one I had, turns itself off without whistling (I dont think many kettles whistle any more) and makes only the smallest of noise when boiling - if its dead quiet you can hear it but you would have to be a really light sleeper to be woken up by it from another room

Kenwood kettle and cheap toaster less than 18 dollars from the supermarket. Both perfect after 5 years

I'm very happy with my new Sunbeam kettle - Cafe Series Peace & Quiet Kettle. So quiet compared to my previous Breville rapid boil. I love its 2 litre capacity as I often boil water in it for large pots of pasta. Super fast too.

Dollar, I like that toaster! We had a look and there's a matching kettle as well. We like them

We'll go check them out 'in real life' and then decide on whether they'll match in.
We'll have Laminex Charred Oak cabinets and Ultra Blanc (white on starfire) splashback with CS Nougat benchtops.

Usually the loudest kettles are the one's where the heating element is concealed. The others that are exposed are suppose to be quieter but the bar gets dirtier over time.

in my experience they all get louder over time. we have a 5 year old krups which isn't tooo bad, but i do keep it in the walk in pantry so the sound is a bit more muffled in there.

Your comments just reminded me of Nan's old 'jug'. It was ceramic with the exposed bar/element going down the side. Thanks for evoking some pretty warm and special memories of my grandparents

I just got one for Mothers Day, because the unit we're staying in is tiny, and the kitchen is right outside the kids room. Its a Russell Hobbs, Whisper Kettle and it is BRILLIANT. If you weren't standing IN the kitchen you'd never know it was on. And even then sometimes I have to double check. It was a bit expsy @ $80 but worth every penny!!!
