It quickly adds up but if you order complete boxes, you should get out for about $1000 in materials for the track plus about the same for the material. I am using the FS100 track, which is 1/2 inch which will allow a thin substrate material for acoustic treatments. Added to that, my room will be isolated with Green Glue whisper clips, which detatches the gyprock walls from the studs. This makes a massive difference in sound transmission out of the room. In terms of material thickness, I would check with the supplier as the materials are all different. The trilogy one is very similar to GOM material 701, which is what most of the guys on AVSForum generally use. Feel free to PM me and I can call you if you like. I don't like pushing products too much here..neither do the moderators! Best of luck Greg Re: Carpet on the walls? 17Jun 08, 2010 6:18 pm just heard back from the owner of that HT picture. for those interested the room is: 5.5m x 5m thanks greg, i have heard about excellent results from green glue, its certainly isnt cheap! lots of people on the avsforums wouldnt build a room without it! im keen to see how your setup goes, is it like a foam consistency? 2nd-Fix | Blog Building with Desyn Homes previously with the insolvent Endeavour Homes Re: Carpet on the walls? 18Jun 08, 2010 8:04 pm FireFox just heard back from the owner of that HT picture. for those interested the room is: 5.5m x 5m thanks greg, i have heard about excellent results from green glue, its certainly isnt cheap! lots of people on the avsforums wouldnt build a room without it! im keen to see how your setup goes, is it like a foam consistency? Hi mate, My room is going to be 5.6 x 4.55 x 2.7m high. I will not be using Green Glue. I am using the whisper clips from the Green Glue company. They work a little differently and basically separate the gyprock from the studs to stop sound transmision. Green Glue is the actual adhesive that is a thick, viscous product that has some adhesive qualities (still needs to have drywall screws) but basically converts the energy created through sound vibration into low heat and then dissipates this heat. This conversion of energy stops the transmission of sound through to other parts of the home. That's about as simple as I can explain it. If you do a search on youtube you will find a stack of info on Green Glue. I think you may be ahead of us on the build. We are still waiting on Council permission. Almost there. Hope to start building within a month or so. I think that you will find so many hidden costs if you want to really go to town on your room. A home theatre is very different than a media room / TV room / Rumpus room. Everything is expensive, from lights, to sound proofing, through to cabling etc etc. The list goes on! Feel free to PM if you need any other info. Cheers Greg 1 16729 they can, it's a fairly standard solution when the slab isn't recessed. the falls need to be in the main floor, if it hasn't been done then you need to ask them to redo… 4 7117 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 8322 |
