Our bricks have just gone up, it looks fantastic. Brickies had fantastic workmanship. I'm loving the quality at every stage. 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Building with Rendition Homes 168Jun 19, 2010 9:15 pm Thought I'd just give an update, the gyprock has gone in this week so now its a real house. Over the last couple of weeks the electricians and gas fitter have also been through. The cornices are here, so I'd say they will be going up next week. We also had our applicances delivered to the cabinet maker (we are supplying our own). I guess we should be at lockup in the next few weeks - that will be sad, I will miss my nightly inspections. 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Building with Rendition Homes 169Jun 25, 2010 6:16 pm HI All, Would love to join you. We are signing our intial works contract with Rendition on the weekend! We have our own custom design and have been working on it for about 12 months. Looking forward to finally start the building process, not just the plannig process!! Although from what I read - that is still probably a long while off!! We have 4 acres in the Barossa Valley, 2 1/2 of it under vines. We cant wait to get out to our little piece of paradise!!! Look forward to hearing how everyone else is going and if anyone is still at the really early phases. Re: Building with Rendition Homes 170Jun 25, 2010 8:12 pm Hi rebecca, We are also building a custom design. Fingers crossed our plans translate into a workable house. We have most of the frame and a bit of urgent boundary bricking completed. Expect the rest of the bricking might not happen for awhile yet. Would love to be in our house this year, but it is very hard to judge how quickly things will progress. So far the build quality is looking great. 4 acres in the Barossa, sounds lovely. Re: Building with Rendition Homes 171Jun 30, 2010 10:41 am Thanks - Yep Barossa is a gorgeous place to call home! I am hoping that we may have a slab down by the Christmas break - that would be great!! Would love to hear more about your custom design - ours is a 4 bedroom number. I must get my plans scanned so I can post it. I haven't got it electronically. Hope all is going well for everyone. Anyone else in the early stages? We hva enow signed our Intial Works Contract and are waiting to hear back from council regarding planning approval. Would be really interested to hear about elevation choices. Brick, gutter, render colour etc.... Re: Building with Rendition Homes 173Jul 06, 2010 12:23 pm We've finally got development approval and subdivision approval, so we're finalising all of our selections while building approval is in the works. Facade-wise we're weighing up between two options. We're having a CB Dune roof and Manor Red fascias either way, but tossing up between PGH Augbergine bricks with Loft gutters, and Austral Cobalt bricks with Monument gutters. Either way we will have raked Brighton Light mortar. We definitely prefer the Aubergine combination, but these bricks cost an extra $180 per 1000, so we would be looking at an extra $1500 or so for the whole house, so we need to factor budget into the decision. We would love to hear any input on these options! Re: Building with Rendition Homes 174Jul 07, 2010 11:42 am Spud McDoug We definitely prefer the Aubergine combination, but these bricks cost an extra $180 per 1000, so we would be looking at an extra $1500 or so for the whole house, so we need to factor budget into the decision. We would love to hear any input on these options! We ended up going for the PGH greenway which was an extra $585 per side ($1755 all up). The bricks make up such a large part of your home, you really have to get what you want, if cost is a factor remove the shelving in your walk in robe, the credit should almost balance out and you can add the shelves in 6 months time. To me, this choice is a no brainer. 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Building with Rendition Homes 175Jul 08, 2010 5:32 pm Interesting - until this point I was unaware that you could use bricks from other companies other than Austral.... Thanks for that guys. As far as roof selections, I think I would like Dune but my husband wants somethig a little lighter. Really depends on what brick we choose.... Re: Building with Rendition Homes 176Jul 09, 2010 5:34 pm Hi Rebecca we chose monument which is the darkest grey, on the roof it looks alot lighter. I would suggest ask RH if they have used your roof colour on any houses lately and go for a drive by on a reasonably sunny day, your other half may decide the colour you have chosen is light enough in. 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Building with Rendition Homes 177Jul 09, 2010 10:17 pm Thanks Anna - great idea. Funny getting info out of RH though. I have asked 2 sales consultatns the brick colours of the display homes they were sitting in - both of them thought i was crazy to ask and suggested that they dont answer question of that type!!!! Argghhh.... Also had two calls yesterday from surveyors wanting to to a contour map of our block - I have already submitted a contour map, hard copy and electronic versions. I really hope this doens't mean they want to redo all the plans we have already spent hard earned $s on! Thanks for you advice though Anna. Re: Building with Rendition Homes 179Jul 13, 2010 11:11 am Hi all. I have only posted on a few occasions mainly in frustration however I thought I'd give you an update as to where we are at: February 2009 - signed contract July 2009 - started selection process January 2010 - Builders interview April 2010 -Site works begin June - Footings poured July 12th - Timber delivered My husband is optimistic about getting in by Christmas but given our experience so far, I'm thinking more like February. If I am correct, it will have been a 2 year process from contract signing to hand over. We were initially advised about 12 months give or take (council approval, weather, trade availbility etc.). Our house isn't even that large - 28 squares. How long did eveyone else's take from contract signing to handover? or from thepouring of the footings to handover? Hi Smbader We have been through the same frustrations as you but since the brickwork began it has been all systems go. We are looking at having handover a month before its due and we also had a 7 week slab cure in that time, so don't give up hope. You signed a few months after us (Nov 08), we are looking at handover mid to late August so all up about 21 months. They want you in before Xmas too because otherwise they will have to wait until after xmas shut down for all your hard earned. I have spoken with each contractor every step of the way - all of them have been very thorough and professional.
