Re: Building requirements - DO WINDOWS NEED TO ABLE TO OPEN 2May 28, 2010 8:58 am The window in the ensuite must be openable unless you have it ventilated. The bedroom windows don't have to be openable but I cannot imagine them being fixed personally "I never learned a thing until I finished school" - Unknown "You can get anything accomplished, If you don't mind who gets the credit" - Ned Hay Re: Building requirements - DO WINDOWS NEED TO ABLE TO OPEN 3May 28, 2010 10:31 am Thank you for the tip Kid81. Just wanting to find out if I need to pay extra to get this fixed - or I can get away with this as this is a legal requirement. If anyone knows if there is a regulation and what that is stated, that would be great! Building The Amberlea 44 Fusion Home http://www.amberleadream.blogspot.com Land settled May 10!! Re: Building requirements - DO WINDOWS NEED TO ABLE TO OPEN 4May 28, 2010 11:50 am The only requirements are that a shower must have an exhaust fan above it and If there is a toilet, the room the toilet is in must have an openable window unless it also has an exhaust fan in which case, the window can be fixed. Of course if there are no windows in the room, an exhaust fan is required. To clarify, if the shower and toilet are in the same room and there is no window, one exhaust fan is enough. if there is a window though, one exhaust fan is still required for the shower. As far as the bedroom goes, there is no regulation requiring an openable window however for your own comfort, i would suggest at least one window be openable. I think i'll shut my mouth. I always thought mechanical ventilation was sufficient. That said, I haven't ever seen one with only an exhaust fan. It's probably best to speak to someone sooner rather than later. Personally, I wouldn't like to have a fixed window in a bedroom. It's always good to give a room a good airing out, not to mention a bit of a breeze on those hot summer nights. Oceanic with Nautilus upgrades.
