Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 78Jan 31, 2007 8:38 am Vandals and robbers are such a burden. They seem to ruin what should be a generally pleasant and exciting experience for home builders.
My partner and I drove past our block on the weekend and while there we drive around the estate looking at other people's houses and see how they're progressing. We saw one house with grafitti all over the front and door and window plus one set of windows completely smashed. The house next to it had two sets of sliding doors completely smashed, too. We had our contract appointment a couple of days ago and the lady presenting it to us told us the story about how her sister's island benchtop was stolen. Mind you, she said, it was just a standard laminate benchtop. It wasn't even stone or granite. I pressume that whoever stole her benchtop was the same person who stole Yamster's sink and epiphany's aircon and sliding door. Maybe they're building a house out of everyone else's bits and pieces. [sneakersss] Re: Porter Davis homes 79Jan 31, 2007 8:53 am Then you get the people who wander round your site looking for anything that isn't nailed down. I was onsite last week re-securing all the doors (how come, when you're at lock up, nothing is actually locked up & you can still get into the house??!) after a friend drove past & noticed someone had tried to remove our nice wooden windows...again...even though they're already installed & plastered round (so they damaged the plaster as well). While I was inside, a couple with a baby walked past. I noticed the woman standing outside the site & my friend went out to tell her to leave as she was on private property. Said woman then started yelling in Cantonese at someone & it was then we realised her husband was brazenly walking round the house, despite it being obvious someone was onsite. My friend's hubby went out & told him to leave but he wouldn't go. He claimed he was looking at the house plan. He was actually looking to see if there was anything on the property worth taking (eg wood, bricks, etc) & absolutely refused to leave until my friend's hubby got quite insistant.
Our neighbours-to-be are having trouble with people dumping rubbish on the site. They have a skip outside (we don't...PD seem to use sack-type things instead) & our neighbour-to-be was saying that the other day some nice member of the community dumped a whole lot of soiled baby nappies on the building site, among other things. Yuck. Wow that is terrible about the insurance! I guess ideally proof of insurance should be provided prior to first deposit but I'd imagine they would refuse to be out of… 17 14222 There isn't any need to. As I wrote previously, there isn't a set term, there is just commencement based on earlier of contract signing or building permit issue and… 24 13375 Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 6489 |
