Re: 'Retreat'-ing to our Pl@ntation- All moved in pics. 103Jun 12, 2010 9:55 pm And so the delightful job of landscaping and acre has begun. We have started with the front yard as the developer gives us a $$$ rebate if we have a list of things done within 12 months of purchasing the block. On the list is front fence, driveway, letterbox and grass. Here are some pics of what we have done so far. Large truck and dog with lots.......and lots of organic soil arrived. Have also started constrution of our front fence. Since we got all the brick from our build for free we thought we might have a go at a rendered brick pillar/wall fence with some timber slats in between. Laying the foundations has taken us 3 weekends. The front fence is 35m long. Here are our humble beginnings. Left side of the driveway. We are putting in a 'secret' gate that looks like the rest of the fence but can be opened so large trucks can enter without damaging the cement driveway. (would really like a pool one day so need to keep access open). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The right side of the driveway will have a pedestrian gate. The whole process was that much harder because of the fall of our land. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building the Pl@ntation Retreat on 4009m2. All moved in!!!!!! DH just keeps saying 'Why couldn't we just buy one already built?' and 'Whose idea was it to buy an acre?' I have a grand plan so hopefully some time, effort and lots of $$$$ will see the plan come to fruition. Building the Pl@ntation Retreat on 4009m2. All moved in!!!!!! Super exciting landscaping. We now have most of a front fence (still needs to be rendered and have timber slats installed) and finally have a deck to the front door. Yeah! no more walking through sand for visitors to enter the house. Winter in Brisbane......25 degrees every day. Never had such a warm winter. Certainly good for getting all those yard jobs done before the heat of summer kicks in. We will do another deck out the back but need to put a patio on first. We have been spending all our time out the front trying to get it to a state where it looks more like a house and less like a building site. We'll move onto the back next. Would like to have the patio up by summer. Building the Pl@ntation Retreat on 4009m2. All moved in!!!!!! Carpet is called Applique II Reflex on Prestige underlay but paperwork doesn't say the colour. We were tossing up between this one which is the beigy colour and the darker chocolate colour. Really glad we didn't go darker as this colour is perfect with our spotted gum floors. Sorry I can't help with the colour but perhaps by knowing the name you may pic it in the store??
