Has anyone here built, or is in the process of building, with McCarthy Homes? I saw their display homes at daisy hill, they had some nice designs and they will do custom designs which is good. Where are you building. We're having PCI on the 18th of May and just decided that it would be worthwhile to get one. Cheers...Evon Re: A thread for Queenslanders :-) 185May 08, 2010 11:36 pm My name is Matty, have been haunting about on here for a little while, but rarely say anything. This is my GF's and my account. Just recently bought/moved into our first home. We've just commenced renovations on our house on Hope Island.. Daunting task and time restricted due to work commitments and being a young family but DIY for the most part. But it's a complete renovation. Front to back, top to bottom. Focusing on the granny flat at the moment, just to get into the swing of things, but won't be long before we start to resheet the entire interior of the main house (YAY for us ) Really enjoying the whole challenge/experience at this stage. Have only just found the Q'lander thread - have been lurking in and around the kitchen forum for the last few months. Kitchen happens first - design is finalised - just waiting on the final quote, benchtops decided, appliances bought (and now hanging on delivery) - all things being equal I should have my lovely new kitchen done by the end of June ... I hope ... Re: A thread for Queenslanders :-) 189Jun 08, 2010 10:39 pm Hi Hawkchick and welcome to H1 ... I LOVE renovations ... make sure you take heaps of before and after shots! Looking forward to watching the progress Re: A thread for Queenslanders :-) 191Jun 24, 2010 2:23 pm Hello All. I have just stumbled across this site as am researching kitchens at the moment and this looks like it will be invaluable. We have just started our first renos in a home we've bought and moved into in Morningside. The place was built in the mid 80's and is in need of an update, so away we go. After knocking out a couple of walls we're on the way. The list includes the following in about that order. Kitchen, Floors, New Ensuite, Old bathroom, Paint. Then downstairs when finances allow we'll dig and build in. it is currently on a slab and closed in, but it's 100mm short of legal. Anyway, enough about me. Look forward to tapping into the huge amount of knowledge on here. Peter Re: A thread for Queenslanders :-) 192Jun 29, 2010 10:28 pm Well the kitchen didn't quite make it for the end of June, but I have all the appliances safely delivered, the cabinets are being built (hopefully) as I type .. just waiting on the electrician to get his act together and finish the quote ... he will get a stern phone call tomorrow. Hopefully a case of days rather than weeks - once it's done, I'll post the before and after pics .. We're currently looking at land around the Bargara, Innes Park and Coral Cove areas and from there we'll start our search for a builder to build our dream home. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: A thread for Queenslanders :-) 197Jul 12, 2010 9:58 pm Hi guys First post on this great forum and just wondering if anybody can recommend a good builder for a renovation of a 40 year old house in Brisbane (remove a few walls, new kitchen, bathroom etc). So far we've tried 3 and all of them are really busy and can't do much before the end of the year?!? Thanks Re: A thread for Queenslanders :-) 198Jul 13, 2010 8:51 am mutt Hi guys First post on this great forum and just wondering if anybody can recommend a good builder for a renovation of a 40 year old house in Brisbane (remove a few walls, new kitchen, bathroom etc). I think you will be hard pressed to find a builder that can do anything before the end of the year. Then if you can, ask why they don't have any work on, I would be worried Re: A thread for Queenslanders :-) 199Jul 13, 2010 8:57 am What a great idea a Queensland Thread!
