Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 153Apr 27, 2010 7:30 pm Structural Guarantee with Porter Davis is 7 years, Simonds - 7 years, Metrico n - 25 years. I'm curious as to why there is a big difference. Does anyone know? Life is; then you tell yourself a story. Re: Porter Davis homes 154Apr 27, 2010 8:16 pm The statutory requirement in most states is for the builder's warranty to cover a period of six years. Anything more than that is a bonus. Id' be interested to know what M actually cover for the remaining 19 years.... I just trawled through umpteen pages of legislation, looking for the warranty period required by law. Then I found this nice simple chart: State Warranty period Maximum payout Minimum value requiring insurance VIC 6 years $200,000 $12,000 NSW 6 years $300,000 $12,000 NT 6 years $80,000 $12,000 SA 5 years $80,000 $12,000 QLD 6.5 years $200,000 $3,300 ACT 5 years $85,000 $5,000 WA 6 years $100,000 $12,000 TAS 6 years $200,000 $12,000 Sorry about the funky formatting.... I think it's actually 6.5 years in Vic now, for homes built after 2005 or thereabouts. Some of the other info might be out of date too, but you get the idea. If your house is going to fall down, you'd better hope it's in the first six years. Re: Porter Davis homes 157Apr 28, 2010 6:10 pm oze Thanks Kek. Yeah I'd love to know what M cover for the 19 years too. Why does this forum not allow M to be written but other builder's names can? I think it's at their (M's) request. Legal stuff.... There are a few other builders whose names end up blanked out. Re: Porter Davis homes 159May 01, 2010 9:15 pm I am so glad I came across this forum before I started building. I am building with PD and trying to get in before the First home buyers ends June 30 .. 1 Month after I gave my deposit NOTHING had been done, no appointments phone calls etc. They keep referring to their "Procedures of purchase' but that has completely gone out the window.. I've had to call and email them numerous times just to keep on schedule. That's one thing I learnt on this forum. You have to be in control of your building experience and know almost as much as they do. Then they can't take you for a ride. In the end all the builders are the same and you have to decide what house YOU want. Re: Porter Davis homes 160May 07, 2010 9:49 pm Hi My family and I have just signed onto Porter Davis - we looked around and the floor plans were the one that suited us best - this is thefirst time we have eve built -we are building the Marriott 44 has any one got any advise for us as a heads up? we are building at Uni Hill in Bundoora and were surprised to see that they had tried to double up in the cost that we had already included - took us a few days to get things right - but hopefully we are over the hard bits Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 14031 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 109679 Hi there!
