We get a front landscaping package through our estate-in serpentine/jarrahdale shire-and it is now time to finally get it done. Our front garden is north facing.
Our landscape turf is wintergreen, but upgradable with sir Walter or Palmetto. Empire Zoysia is doable too, but we have to sign a 'non-guarantee' form as they said it doesnt perform well here, doesnt look nice and they wont guarantee it (guarantee is for 3 months on the other 3 types).
When asked what what wrong with EZ she said that it ends up with a pink tinge to it, and it doesnt look nice/ patchy areas, she said she hasnt seen any nice EZ gardens at all. So if DH decides against the EZ what would be the best one to get out of sir walter/palmetto? What would cause a pink tinge/patchyness to the EZ grass? Is this problem fixable?
Another question is our soil/sand is hard, limestone so Ive been told and the landscaper who brings in the topsoil, said he will bring in extra so that we can have a thick layer on top. I said I wanted it dug in, he wont do that as the soil breaks his equipment, but he can kind of mix it a bit with his bobcat. Do you think that that will be enough and what else can I do before the turf is laid? DH will not 'dig' soil in himself, he thinks that what this guy will do, will be enough. He wasnt even going to bother about making him mix it until I said something. I am not sure how much soil he will bring in either, DH did say that we wanted organic soil and he said that is what he uses. How do we tell that it is organic stuff and not some other cheapo soil?
Our landscaper is a member of the Landscape Industries Association of WA does that mean they are pretty decent or can anyone get on the list IYKWIM?
Thanks in Advance
