Re: what size washing machine do you have and is it big enou 15Apr 24, 2010 8:13 pm We have a 8kg Electrolux front loader (for the 2 of us). I had a FisherP top loader which died after 6 years. Would never go back to a top loader again after now having a front loader. I find front loaders are much more gentler on your clothes, are more water wise and so much quieter (my old FP used to sound like an airplane was taking off in my laundry ). Plus one of the advantages of having a front loader is running your laundry benchtop straight over the washing machine to make your laundry a bit more streamlined. Re: what size washing machine do you have and is it big enou 16Apr 24, 2010 8:23 pm We have an LG front loader 7kg washer /dryer. big enough for two of us but we seem to generate mountains of washing. I would not recomend anyone get the washer dryer combo. The dryer is terrible and you cant just do a dry load. We never use the dry function now. Re: what size washing machine do you have and is it big enou 17Apr 24, 2010 8:48 pm Suddenly this topic reminded me a q, how long do u adults wear ur pants/ trousers b4 throwing it in the machine? ( I assume u wear it for duties like working in an office, shops, but not for digging, working in the roof etc. I think the frequency of washing plays quite a factor. When I heard a friend's friend frequency, i am astonished. will share a while later. Re: what size washing machine do you have and is it big enou 18Apr 24, 2010 9:11 pm I have a bosch front loader 6.5kg and it is brilliant. It washes beautifully and is much better than the whirlpool front loader we had previously. I do a single load every day. The length of the wash cycle for front loaders doesn't allow you to do all your washing in one day so this routine works well for me. Check out the choice guide to help you decide on a washing machine, I think you have to pay for the most recent report but it certainly helps makes sure you don't get a lemon too. Re: what size washing machine do you have and is it big enou 19Apr 24, 2010 10:42 pm While front loaders have a longer wash cycle time than top loaders, I don't find it a drama. I think our old top loaders used to take 50 minutes and our front loaders about 1:20... Anyway, for instance yesterday I did four loads, today one load - tomorrow, I'll no doubt do at least another load and maybe one or two during the week. For five adults, that's not bad. As Nott pointed out, usage will depend on lifestyle (and ages) of the household. My husband, one son and I usually have workout clothes six days a week, two of us might have clothes that are grotty from gardening or painting or something a couple of days a week, there are towels used up to seven or eight times a day, five lots of sheets weekly, and the two younger boys have sports clothing once or twice a week.... plus the usual underwear and office clothing, school uniforms, etc... Re: what size washing machine do you have and is it big enou 20Apr 24, 2010 10:48 pm I wish to have one of the laundromat giant washing machines, I'd do one load per week then.
