Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 21, 2010 10:38 pm Hi, I am new to this forum. I am looking for a flat pack kitchen because we are on a tight budget. Can you please share me your flat pack kitchen photos and how much it costed you? Did you install if yourself or get a professional? Also, do you think flat pack quality is ok? Will it last 15-20 years if care is taken? Any help/tips are appreciated. Thanks heaps guys Re: Your flat pack kitchen and cost 2Apr 23, 2010 7:46 pm If materials used are like for like, there's no reason why the kitchen shouldn't last. We're building and have gone for flatpack too, to try and cut down the costs. Had one quote come back in at over $12K (including stone tops) shopped around local suppliers and received one for a little over $8k. We'll be installing ourselves (carpenter by trade) which helps. Sorry, haven't got any pics as yet though. Re: Your flat pack kitchen and cost 3Apr 23, 2010 8:10 pm We put in a flatpack kitchen in our house, and there is no reason why it shouldn't last the distance, compared to any other kitchen. Our kitchen is quite large, about 3.6 x 3.6 and our kitchen cost us around $8,000 with diamond gloss laminate. We installed it ourselves, and it was quite easy if you followed the instructions. Re: Your flat pack kitchen and cost 4Apr 23, 2010 8:16 pm We've got a flat-pack kitchen in our home... and I can't fault it for the money! We spent just over $3k on the kitchen itself (cupboards, bench top, end panels etc.) and it is constructed just like any other kitchen. The kit went together without to much trouble, and everything fit (measurement wise) without any fiddling around. Re: Your flat pack kitchen and cost 5Apr 23, 2010 8:18 pm We got a custom made flat pack and it was also around $8000 for a gloss laminate including glass doors. It was more expensive to have custom made sizes than buying directly from a flatpack company. I cant work out how to post the link but i have the before and after pics in another thread. the flat pack kitchen is exactly the same as what the kitchen company install, we just saved on the labour by DIY. Your best bet is to search on flatpack companies around where you are and get quotes. Ikea, bunnings and laminex also do flatpacks. Re: Your flat pack kitchen and cost 6Apr 25, 2010 8:47 am Hi I dont have pictures sorry. We just bought from ikea for our kitcehn measurin 3m x 4m Including base cabinets, pantry and a 220cm island bench all soft close all drawwers and one shelf above microwave cupboard with 40mm caesar stone benchtops for 9K -they are having a sale. We wont be installing for 5 weeks but they have 25 year guarantee on the cabinets and lifetime on the Blum hinges Their software for designing is great ( especially if you find a nice assistant to help with it!) We have been quoted $1000 for installation less if we put cabinets together ourselves first and it will cost another $550 for measure and installation of c/stone. Hoep this helps Good luck with it all Candi ************* First time renovator VIC Re: Your flat pack kitchen and cost 7May 08, 2010 4:15 pm Candice - I am thinking of an Ikea Kitchen for our renovation. Does IKEA install the c/stone or who did you get to do this? Did you go for glass splashbacks or tiles. The money I should save with IKEA over a couple of kitchen companies should pay for top of the range appliances and a large screen TV plus have $10_000 left over. We want a galley kitchen 6m long and an Island. My jaw dropped when the first company quoted me $39_000 for it. Re: Your flat pack kitchen and cost 8May 08, 2010 8:38 pm HI ted_melb the spalshback isn't included in the costs as yet. I haven't decided what to go for! Ikea charge a flat $550 for c/stone that includes a final measure once your cabinets are up then installation They also have set prices for joins/sink/tap cutouts etc Ikea have great brouchures with all info I've lent mine out though. We are installing in 2.5 weeks so can put pics up then! I have drawn up a couple of plans with the IKEA software which is pretty easy to use. I decided on a simpler plan than the 2 kitchen companies drew up as IKEA has a limited range of cupboard sizes and shapes, it leaves me with a spare wall space for that TV which should please my wife . Its a pity the software doesnt include the c/stone in the planner though. I assume you were looking at the IKEA installation for the cupboards. I would certainly put all the flatpacks together myself which is very straight forward - might get my kids to do a few too . Did Ikea offer Electrician or plumber for installation? A fixed price for that would be excellent as costs seem so high to me for those services so far. I hope your installation goes smoothly and look forward to seeing your pics. This website is great - just been on it for couple of days and already telling all my friends about it. Re: Your flat pack kitchen and cost 10May 14, 2010 9:05 am Hi ted_melb sorry I missed this forgot to subscribe to the topic Im having our own cabinet maker install the cabinets hes going to do the box cainet for baths/bench and other jobs too Ikea do have a set company that installs their prices as per the booklet provided seem high but they did mention they give you a better quote with a full kitchen. Our builder is using his plumber. Should be able to give you better idea of associated costs in a few weeks when we start (YIKES) ************* First time renovator VIC Re: Your flat pack kitchen and cost 11May 16, 2010 4:27 pm We bought a Ikea kitchen for our reno, bought it at end of fin year sale, saves heaps. If you go into the store the people are very helpful & will help design etc your kitchen.Just make sure you have all the right measurements. We have all draws & larders, except for corner. We had enough left for granite bench-tops,bench splash-backs & full length stove splash-back. Oh yes, enough for chopping boards & just a bit/enough for our new house alfresco area benchtop. Total cost for kitchen with granite(bought in slabs, cheaper)installed as a cash weekend job Kitchen from ikea under $6.000 Do you wont to see Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper! The flat pack was bought at the end of fin year sale & cost us $1,600. Also after the fin sales you can pick-up kichens as cheap as chips, cheaper!! The prices are unbelieveable The rangehood from Harvey $150 end of design, display model. The floor is a floating one & we were going to do Bamboo, but as we hope to build & then sell we have halved our plans & will do a cheapie,Maybe even sand the one there & leave The tiles we may use are left overs from m&d reno, only trouble is they are ripple white & i'm unsure about them. So eventho it is a cheapish reno its not finished & will not be until we build & are not living in it,its tooooo hard. By the way,i love the reno above, love the colour combo's cheers Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper!
