Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Anyone heard of Abey Homes? 21Apr 17, 2010 6:15 pm Hi All Am just about to put a deposit down for a house and land package that I am going to purchase from My Complete Package. Has anyone heard of them? Abey Homes is their builder. I understand that there will be a few problems and it will definitely be a stressful time. However, I'm gathering that there might be some issues with maintenance of the property after the handover. I just wanted to see if anyone else was with My Complete Package? The homes seem to be great and there are lots of inclusions. We have taken out quite a few of them as they are not worth it and cheaper to get done ourselves. Re: Anyone heard of Abey Homes? 22Apr 20, 2010 4:18 pm Abey are really fast builders once they start........have no problem with their built quality, the only part that may be frustrating part is the 100 days maintenance. Instead of you getting a courtesy call from them to do the check, you actually have to make the call to chase them up......we've moved in since august and till now they have not resolved out issues yet....but most of the issue are minor... so far so good.......(touch wood) Re: Anyone heard of Abey Homes? 23Apr 21, 2010 10:55 am Thanks for that. Hopefully all will go well. How long did you roughly have to wait from the contract signing until the building works started. I want to be able to get my First Home Owner's Grant in time. Re: Anyone heard of Abey Homes? 24Apr 23, 2010 8:52 am We signed our contract somewhere in Oct 08, with settlement in Nov. Site start in March....fairly long process.......another thing to note is SS is near impossible to contact........and dont really call you back even if you leave a voicemail....... Re: Anyone heard of Abey Homes? 25Jun 30, 2010 6:45 pm Hi - it's interesting that they are called Abey Homes - I am interested in a house & land package by My Complete Package and they are apparently AHB - unless that stands for Abey Homes? Anyway - they sound really good - just wondering if we are all talking about the same company? Re: Anyone heard of Abey Homes? 26Oct 19, 2010 10:45 am Hi All, Just about to sign the house contract with Abey homes and wondering if anyone has had any recent experience with them? They have been real helpful, till date, with making all the required changes to the house plans but I guess it could just be cause they want the business. Anyways, would love to hear from anyone who has had any exp with them, good or bad. Keep Walking..... Re: Anyone heard of Abey Homes? 27Oct 21, 2010 9:16 am Overall positive with them I would say. You might find it difficult when it comes to communication especially with the SS and you might have to wait a bit longer when it comes to maintenance after your handover. It took us 11 months to get the garage door replaced... Re: Anyone heard of Abey Homes? 28Oct 22, 2010 7:39 am WOW 11 months to get the garage door replaced?? How is their build quality? Any major issues that I should be aware of? Well I hope that they can get the build process started soon, can't wait to move into my first house. Looking at Jan for the slab work to be completed. Keep Walking..... Re: Anyone heard of Abey Homes? 29Oct 22, 2010 1:59 pm yes 11 months to change...after countless calls to maintenance officer......appointments after appointments which no one came... well overall built quality is good. no major issue with the structure of the house.... Re: Anyone heard of Abey Homes? 30Feb 18, 2011 3:25 pm DO NOT BUILD WITH ABEY HOMES (AH) AH built on our street and all investment properties managed by Run Property(partners?). We are Tenants who have lived in an AH for approx 2.5 years. Moving out soon and will warn BUYERS or INVESTORS or Building INTENTIONERS to stay away from AHs. Our Condition Report 13 pages typed with #8Font. Construction Problems: 1. 2cm water level Flooding Garage 3 wks after we move in. Problem not rectified after 2.5yrs. AH tells ****** after ******. Last fixing: Plaster over water-filled-bubbled wall and Repaint. Tenants initially blamed for not taking up Insurance by RUN and were requested to bear up with all costs. 2. Walls doesn't sit on slabs and water leakage behind walls. 3. Slits/Holes between architraves and walls at Garage Access Door where water and whatever can come through. 4. Interior Tiles Grout Cracks badly at sections of brand new home. 2.5 yrs-some grout has come off 5. Deluge causes leak through some window frames infrequently. 6. Chains break off or come off-rail when pulling the blind. (told that it was high quality blinds. Asked to use 2 hands to pull and let go of chain on front & back while pulling up the blinds. Problem is due to our way of pulling the blind!!??) 7. Ongoing problems with Electricity tripping. Wiring problems?? Check with an independent Certified Qualified Electrician. 8. Aircon not operating for total 2yrs. Told in the face convincingly that nothing was wrong with the air-con. Last fixing: told that exterior tube was broken..?? (by the wind? or the cat next door??) 9. Toilet bowl took 6 different plumbers (3 called by us) to fix sewerage water leakage into home. Our plumbers told us the problem...AH fixed and fixed and never solved the problem... Finally fixed it; last plumber statement: toilet bowl's was not sitting on the outgoing pipe!!!!! Imagine what was on our bathroom floor for a long period!!! 10. Carpet had nails poking out on all borders causing injury. (Told by Carpet CHoice that it was our responsibility that they hammer down the nails which may cause the carpet to move out from the flooring!! heard of that???? wonder what carpet grade and whether there's any padding!) Fixed. Carpet has missing fibres! (told it's normal) 11. Cooker's ignition constantly ignites on its own continuously. (told to use a manual lighter and turn off the switch to the ignition. Cause due to being wet!...??) 12. Vennini Dishwasher died out after 2 yrs. (didn't think that we had a commercial dishwashing going on..) 13. Last event last week; internal study's ceiling leaked during rain. Water leaking thru' downlights and causing ~1m length huge water bubbled ceiling (collapsable?) . Told by Run that it's normal for water to leak thru' downlights. (Is that the problem??hello!?) 10 mins max work. Told by plumber sent by Run that Leaking fixed! In summary, Water Leakage is a prominent problem. Problems fixed by cover up. As for the Investor/Owner, she is desperate to sell the place. Told that she's in financial difficulties and very desperate to sell by Run and Barry Plant(BP), the selling agent. Guess what? Not 1 soul turned up to 2x half hour open houses. We, the tenants were bullied and blamed by Sales BP that they could not sell due to the tenants being incoperative!! (have you heard of such a lame excuse?? perhaps the owner bought it..??) Owner Terminated our lease. Tradesmen were in and out to QUICK-FIX problems; still leaking! Ask for short extension for transition to our new home. Ignored by everyone until they received set date for Claim of Possession of their AH asset(?). Told: "DESPERATE TO SELL!" Who is the next unlucky soul?? RUN as far as you can!!! No one understands that Open house to sell is not the issue. No one is keen on showing buyers by appointment only apart the tenant. We are always the problem that this AH built place is not selling. ??do we have "STUPID" written on our forehead????? BUYERS, Home Builders and whoever interested, BEWARE what you are getting into. I sympathise with the owner however displeased with the denial she's in that by ridding us promptly if she can would help her rid her troubled property! I suppose warranty/maintenance period over?? problems lingering?? increasing problems?! Tenants are the easy target to blame as builder, agents and investors/owners has their own financial interests to protect and no one wants to be responsible?? For everyone's conscience sake, my advice; run away from Abey's related properties/investments. Every party is losing due to AH's insufficiencies and irresposibilities including morally. All the above is not fiction. Nothing is false. We have all the photos and videos. Yours totally NO PEACE WORN OUT Tenant, NIGHTMARE ON SWAMPHEN DVE PS. Buyers, beware in buying existing homes. Find out whether it's Abey Homes.. if it is, ensure nothing is covered up behind the walls!!!!!!! Re: Anyone heard of Abey Homes? 31Feb 23, 2012 8:48 pm Hi We are planning to sign a deal with My Complete Package. Appreciate any feedback about them. Thanks a lot! Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 25228 I haven’t. But have a Lowe Design home. Not only did I find Matt Lowe patronising and a bully, but the home is NOT TO CODE. I have water coming through the bricks… 1 14677 Hi we are looking to talk to people who have built with them recently. We have signed mid range built contract but identified that a lot of things are not included.… 0 771 |
