Any suggestions as to where to put it? I have been scouring photos of bathrooms but rarely see one. Low , high, just under mirror? against the wall, in between the two sinks (must be a danger??). For ease, it would be easiest to move it further left and have it just left of the vanity, but at what height? thanks. The powerpoint must be min 450mm from the edge of the basin in any direction. So yes, putting the point between the 2 basins could be illegal! Re: Shower shelving & waterproofing - how? 8Apr 14, 2010 1:05 pm emma2010 After reading a few posts on here, i have got the impression that any drilling into the tiles will affect the waterproofing?!?!? How, then, do you go about having any shelving to put shampoo, soap or whatever on?! What do you use? Thanks! You can't help but drill through the tiles and waterproofing membrane when installing your fittings. What you could try doing is after drilling through and inserting the green plug, fill the hole with silicone, and then screw as per normal. Spray a bit of soapy water over the silicone and surround efore removing excess silicone from area good luck Adrien Re: Shower shelving & waterproofing - how? 9Apr 14, 2010 1:14 pm How about we use Polyurethanes and not silicone. Re: Shower shelving & waterproofing - how? 10Apr 16, 2010 7:15 pm Sorry if I seem to be hijacking a thread, but Onc, could you please write a bit more about silicon and polyurethane? I read a quote from a guy in an article in Renew a while back saying that ideally there would be no silicon in a modern home. I didn't understand it , but I did tuck it away in one of the few spare brain cells I have left to spare. Your comment reminded me. I'm particularly interested in whether there are any environmental concerns ... including, but not only, concerns for home air quality etc. Are water based polyurethanes up to the task of sealing up bathrooms?? Thanks in anticipation. e. Re: Shower shelving & waterproofing - how? 11Apr 17, 2010 2:35 pm Polyurethane jointing compounds stick better and remain soft for longer... Everyone has seen the mould growing underneath silicone. I have used them(poly) for years with plenty of success. Most cars are stuck together with polyurethanes.(parts thereof) Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Strong enough for what? For linen, absolutely. To climb on, no.
