Which facade to choose???? 6Apr 12, 2010 8:55 pm Daintree is my vote. It's nice. I also agree with hels; it would look nice even if only a few bits (or even none) are rendered. I don't like that the others have eaves on some parts of the facade but not on others bits, i.e. the sides. Personal preference. Re: Building with Porter Davis... Which facade to choose???? 7Apr 12, 2010 8:58 pm Hello Matty, We are in the process of building with PD and have a facade which requires the installation of box guttering - it looks as though the Urban facade may also use box guttering. This in itself is not a problem but we've had delays as a consequence of the way in which the guttering is installed. Tiles are not completed until the guttering is installed and the tilers then return to finish the capping etc. In our case that took 4 weeks so the front of the house remained open to the weather for an extended period of time. This meant that plaster could not be installed, the front door warped because it got so wet and the hinges have rusted. We have managed to get a new front door installed but are still working on the hinges. Sorry for such a long response it's just that I wished someone would have told us when we chose our facade - it would have been nice if this someone could have been one of the many PD people we spoke with before signing our contract. Cheers Vengapalace. Re: Building with Porter Davis... Which facade to choose???? 8Apr 13, 2010 1:56 pm Funny you mention that lunchtime, i did ask our consultant at PD and they said they didnt keep other home's and their facades on record?? i was a little surprised. But she has mentioned that she is new. sigh! i will ask them when i go to our tender appointment. id really think they would have a few on record somewhere! Hels, they range in price from about 2,500 to 5,500 for the urban, the standard is the belford at the moment. i dont know if ill really be all that worried in a few years though... but i do like the daintree as well... I hate to hear about delays with builders vengaplace, its really annoying as you find yourself asking the same old question, why didnt they plan for this weeks in advance! Anyone have an opinion on what they thinks better??? We only get one part of the facade rendered to keep in mind! so the daintree would only be partly rendered!! "" Hi I am building with PD. remember all the facade comes with brick finish. if you need the render/ different colour/ eaves/ garage door etc. you have to upgrade (pay extra). No brick above garage roller door. it comes with cement sheet. 100% not same as you see in the picture if you do not upgrade. you will get the shape and window/ door position. thats all Re: Building with Porter Davis... Which facade to choose???? 11Apr 21, 2010 3:32 pm That looks beautiful mdzzj! The roof line is nice and interesting, and the little timber thingies are a really cool point of interest too. I should change my vote now... Re: Building with Porter Davis... Which facade to choose???? 12Apr 25, 2010 10:37 pm LOVE the Shoalhaven! I love the fact that you have brick as well as Render... it gives the frontage a very nice contrast Re: Building with Porter Davis... Which facade to choose???? 13Apr 26, 2010 8:12 am Matty, what part of Melbourne are you in? Perhaps someone here has seen one of the facades you like on a house somewhere in your area.... There's a Daintree near us, not on a Churchill though, it's a Bridgeport. The front elevation is similar though, just different dimensions. I think the displays at Epping and Cranbourne both have a Daintree facade.... it's always interesting to compare displays to homes people have built - the one near us has quite a lot of exposed brick, I think, rather than full render. I remember I quite liked the Urban from the photos on the website when we were deciding - then I saw it on a couple of houses in the area and hated it. Maybe it was the owners' colour choices. Anyway, it's been updated now, so maybe the new version is nicer. Of all the facades you've listed, I like the Daintree best - what are the upgrade costs like now? Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 13619 traditional gable roof facade - Have you did the dark and light gray color combination in facade with gray stone in facade… 0 4494 Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7955 |
