LAMINATE FLOORING 29Mar 24, 2010 8:39 pm cocobeanhouse maxyb We are getting Bamboo engineered (strandwoven) 13mm boards, cost is about the same as tassie oak. there is no way I would get plastic, sorry laminate floorboards, I would rather tiles. just my opinion Was also going to get strandwoven coffee because it was cheap and seemed durable. Then the more I researched it, the more concerned I was about the variations of quality. And who knows what the factories in China use for the resin.. read stories about the harsh chemicals used in the manufacturing process so ruled it out as we have two young boys. Also the more I looked at pictures of residential installations, the less I thought it looked that great. Brought a large 1m x 1m sample home to check it out, and realised it was totally wrong for our house. Just my opinion. Fair enough, we saw a couple of jobs done by our builder and it looked fantastic and have froends with it and they love their floors. I read some horror stories and some really good reports on-line. A lot depends on the quality of manufacture and my builder took a while to be convinced by his flooring guy apparently and now he is won over and is doing it in the majority of homes that ask for floorboards. I originally wanted spotted gum but that was a bridge too far for us so we settled for Tassie Oak before our builder suggested bamboo so in the end we liked the look so its bammboo coffee strandwoven for us Blog: http://funmore-residence.blogspot.com/ Forum: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=21109 Construction Start - 19/09/09 Slab Poured - 21/10/09 Frame Completed - 25/11/09 Lockup - 22/12/09 Fixing - 22/02/10 Handover & Moved In 30/04/2010 Re: REAL TIMBER FLOOR BOARDS VS. LAMINATE FLOORING 30Mar 25, 2010 9:36 pm Vundaful! For sure! I'll be going snap-crazy with the camera once my floor is in Our Eligna was supplied and installed at just under $70 m2 through an independent company, but not broken down into supply/install prices. We saw it at showrooms for $39 - $42 m2 supply only, and they all quoted approximately $30 to install on top of that. After exhaustive research, we are also going for the Quickstep Eligna (Oiled Walnut). If they did a Largo in a similar colour we would go for that. Prices in Sydney seem to be about $40.m2 supply only and I'll install myself. Stairs scare me though - so will get in a pro for that! Building the Caprice33 by Provincial Homes.
