Re: Anyone built with Accent on Homes, Perth 8Mar 07, 2010 9:15 pm redrenee We have signed a contract with them and are nearly going to site I would imagine that it should be completed by the end of the year as we are investors. Are there any homes this side of the river that you know of that we could look at - there is probably only once piece of advice that I could give is to make sure you have an approx completion date in your contract (we do not) but being first time builders I think we were a bit "dumb". Hello, We looked at a couple of their homes today in North Perth & Karrinyup. Both homes are at lock up stage and look pretty good. 14A Ruby Street, North Perth & 162A Karrinyup Road, Karrinyup. I would contact the builder and ask for a couple of contacts for recently completed homes. I always do that with builders and doorknock the homes and have never had anyone reluctant to talk to me about their experience. They told us it would be approximately 18 months from start to finish, that included approximately 6 months for drawing of final plans and submission to Council etc. good luck and would be great to hear how things are going with you. Re: Anyone built with Accent on Homes, Perth 9Jul 12, 2010 11:55 am What are the main things that you found that were not completed properly? Why has it taken so long to fix I thought that there was only a certain time period for these items to be completed. Any information you can give will be helpful. Thanks. Re: Anyone built with Accent on Homes, Perth 10Apr 07, 2012 10:47 pm Hi, I am currently building with aoh and to be honest it's not good. I would not recommend it at all. Poor workmanship and even worse customer relations. In all a horrible draining over the top hidden expences out of no where experience that won't end. I hope this answers your question. That's just my experience however things might be great for you Re: Anyone built with Accent on Homes, Perth 11Apr 09, 2012 6:41 pm maxmcnamara Hi, I am currently building with aoh and to be honest it's not good. That's just my experience however things might be great for you Read your contract thoroughly make sure you have someone else going through with handover and more importantly make sure you have insurance at handover. Make sure you have done your list before the 120 days and submit to them if you are not happy you can always lodge a complaint with the Builders Registration Board we too went through this but at the end of the day you just have to find the happy medium. Make sure your paving has been hedged as ours was not and we had to have it all redone as when someone drove on it - it cave in. Good luck Re: Anyone built with Accent on Homes, Perth 12May 03, 2012 12:21 pm Accent on Homes also trading as Central Avenue Homes. If you are in the market for a new home save yourselves a lot of grief, use another builder. Accent on homes do not know the meaning of customer relations, quality, supervision, reliability or timeliness, for what they deliver they very expensive, everything is done on the cheap. We regret ever having heard of this company and may never build another new house again. After building with this company we require trauma counselling. A bushman in Botswana could build a better quality house in less time than it takes to get in contact with a representative of this company. Re: Anyone built with Accent on Homes, Perth 13Nov 30, 2012 3:19 pm I built a 4 x 2 with them earlier this year, apart from the time the shire took to process the application and a couple of minor items that they dealt with straight away no real problems - took about 10 months including shire - not sure how that sits with other builders but all ok? Re: Anyone built with Accent on Homes, Perth 14Nov 30, 2012 3:55 pm I built a set of 3 double story townhouses with Accent in 2009. Not sure what the issues were with some of the other forum responders but I found them to be totally professional and easy to deal with. They were great with the colours and contracts process which was quite comprehensive. The owners wife helped us through all of that personally and she gave us some direction regarding colour schemes etc as this was our first investment. Not saying there was not a couple of issues at site but I think that is the case with most new home builds - the main thing is that they just dealt with things with no hassle or arguments. It seems that some people want to be able to get on the phone and have someone available to listen - I liked that they preferred to get queries in email form - that way i always had a record and I got responses within a couple of hours or less every time (even a few that i sent on the weekends). Overall very happy with my experience! Re: Anyone built with Accent on Homes, Perth 15Nov 30, 2012 4:35 pm I have just found this thread on my builder. So much negativity :/... I had used this forum to look for ideas and advice before my first home went to site. I bought the land in Decemebr 2011, Settled in Febuary & had planning & building approval by May! Although my home is small it only took 4-4.5months to complete. I had a great experience with Accent. The designer was fantastic and tried to use as many of my alternative ideas as possible. I was daunted by the thought of building my first home on my own as a 23yr old but it has been stress free. I have had Accent back to fix up a few small items since handover and it hasn't been an issue. I have so many new ideas for my next house and I won't hesitate to use Accent again. Re: Anyone built with Accent on Homes, Perth 16Dec 03, 2012 11:06 am I stumbled across this forum and had to voice my opinion on Accent on Homes. It's usually the case that people are quick to publicise their negative feelings and yet don't think to mention the positives. Well, I would like to post my POSITIVE response on this forum. Accent on Homes went that extra mile for me when I built with them, a few years ago. They are what I would call a "boutique" builder - or not just a member of one of the big mobs! My experience with them was far better than I read about here. The biggest hurdle I had, was getting through all the red tape of the council with planning etc. This was out of our hands, and also out of the hands of any builder, so the time from start to finish with a build cannot be defined. And of course, the weather has something to do with the time frame. But I was happy with the result. I never had a problem contacting them as I always emailed, never phoned. I kept copies of emails sent and responses received and had no worries in that regard. We had a couple of minor things to fix after handover, but they were remedied to my satisfaction very quickly, and amicably. I would definitely recommend Accent on Homes as a builder. Re: Anyone built with Accent on Homes, Perth 17Apr 16, 2013 1:38 am Well we am baffled by the previous negative posts about Central Avenue / Accent on Homes. We are on our third project with this builder and all I can say is having built with other building companies, the level of service we have received to date has been way above our other experiences. All our projects have been one off designs and Greg & Lee Graingers' personal assistance, especially in getting our designs sorted out, costed quickly and very importantly covering all the costs required, having free site inspections and getting our jobs through the local council planning departments..... which was a nightmare with other builders we have used....is by far the best we have experienced in 12 years of investment building. We have always had great telephone and email backup all thru the lead up building process as well as during construction. Our investment projects rely on quick build times for success and we have always had completion on time and any problems have been fixed quickly for us including maintenance items once we have on sold our finished homes. We really don't see how the negative comments posted here have any value based on our own experience with this company. We would certainly suggest anyone looking at building, especially with individual design requirements and wanting an alternative to the big building groups, should give the staff at this Building Company a call. Re: Anyone built with Accent on Homes, Perth 18Dec 02, 2014 3:50 pm They must have changed a lot in the last few years. Our experience has been great without a single problem. About to start planning our 2nd build and first investment home with Central Avenue Homes. Re: Anyone built with Accent on Homes, Perth 19Mar 04, 2015 10:57 am In my experience they are one of the best boutique builders there is and the draftee has been easy to work with. I haven’t. But have a Lowe Design home. Not only did I find Matt Lowe patronising and a bully, but the home is NOT TO CODE. I have water coming through the bricks… 1 15356 Hi we are looking to talk to people who have built with them recently.
