Browse Forums Building A New House Re: $200 000 to build? 18Mar 01, 2010 9:41 pm Yes we built a steel frame. colourbond roof house, 166m2 liveing area plus double garage (just over 23 sq's total), concrete slab, standard footings, 9 ft ceilings. It was a house/land package, included driveway, floor coverings, fencing - total cost of building contract $212,000, (NOT including the land) then spent around $15,000 on optional upgrades - tapware, upgraded tiles, upgraded carpet etc and then also airconditioning, landscaping, pergola, shed afterwards. It is not a solar passive eco house (Im not even sure what that is ) this was costed 2 years ago, not sure if costs have since risen, we have been in our house since Oct 2008, I like my house but, like Piper's, it doesnt have fancy finishes like stone bench tops or modern downlights - Im not really into ultra modern look anyway. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 18147 As is per usual for many of the past failed RWH regulations, it is probably traceable to a bureaucrat who's ego overrode the need to seek the appropriate expert… 1 1076 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 18916 |
