Re: How to make a bed taller? 10Feb 15, 2010 12:21 pm There are lots of ways to make a bed taller. If it's an ensemble, you can simply use longer legs. We have a collection of legs from ensembles we've had previously and they vary in height. Our current ensemble is VERY thick - so it's a highish bed even with very short legs. If it's a mattress sitting on slats on a bed base, then usually it's a relatively straightforward job to drill extra screw or bolt holes to allow the brackets holding the base to be raised by the required amount. If all else fails, buying a thicker mattress may be the go.... Cheers zeke Re: How to make a bed taller? 11Feb 15, 2010 1:04 pm I wanted height for under bed storage and looking around couldn't find what I wanted, so I made a new frame from scratch, as having a double bed in a 3.5x4.0m room isn't condusive to lots of available storage. We raised it so it has about 45cm under the frame. its a fairly simple steel construction, took a couple of weekends including the design, cutting welding and painting. Cost all up was around $200 in materials. So yeah just one option to consider.
