Re: How much do concretors charge per hour??? 3Feb 10, 2010 8:08 pm Well I just did the math, and the area is 21.6 sq mtrs requiring 2.2 cubic mtrs. But the minimum load is 3.4 cu mtrs, though you don't get 3.4 you are charge for what is called a short load. Most but not all premix plants charge this extra fee. So a cu mtr charge is $200 plus the extra for a short load (unknown supplier = unknown extra cost). But say 2.2 x $235=$517 + mesh about $90 + chairs about 50c each(20)$10 + plastic about $10, use of tools and equipment $100 = $727 5 x $85 = $425 Total $1152 plus travel - GST. You need to understand that to operate a vehicle, tools, knowledge, admin(the time on the phone to you organising the job) and possible warranty, a small job of 21.6 sq mtrs doesn't return a huge amount. I see where you are coming from but remember he has to be able to continue in business or he would be out the back door. Did the job finish well? I wish I could have been more supportive to your train of thought Sometimes the scale of economies can reduce the cost, such as placing a house slab of 150 sq mtrs. Re: How much do concretors charge per hour??? 4Feb 10, 2010 8:10 pm concretors dont charge per hour. 21.6 sq mtrs going of your mesurments concrete $200 q/mtr =$480 he would have needed 2.2 q/mtrs for 100mm but would have ordered 2.4 to make sure he had enough conc. $480 reo sl62 $120 rock .6 q/mtr + del app. $70 tie wire $2 =$672 public liability insurance? if sole trader income tax? if pty income and buisness tax? wear and tear, being minor on tools for a small job is taken into account cost of fuel to get there the small amount of time to organise the job, people dont work behind the seen for free time to pick up reo again this takes up a small amount of time again people dont work for free learning your skills and craft of many many years of back breaking work, how much is that worth? was there gst inclusive or exclusive? what is the cost of his book keeper and accountant per quarter at $55.555555 cents per sq mtr @ 100mm thick is more than fair and justifiable take out his expenses that are behind the seen he probably made $450-$500 for the day, for a fully skilled concretor running his own buisness that is about average, buisness's dont charge just to put food on the table they are there to cover running costs. take a wage and make a profit Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: How much do concretors charge per hour??? 5Feb 10, 2010 8:13 pm onc. you just beat me to it Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: How much do concretors charge per hour??? 6Feb 10, 2010 8:17 pm We seem to be on the same page Davinci Where you are coming from is where you are going to... I generally guesstimate the difference as somewhere around 50 percent. Though this depends on the efficiency of the individual operation... Re: How much do concretors charge per hour??? 11Feb 13, 2010 7:52 am Thanks guys, i did not think about all the hidden costs that he would have to pay like insurances etc, good point. It just seems over the top that the difference ( in my opinion, which may not be exactly right) is $120 per hour once all materials are taken into consideration. When hubby earns less than $20 per hour, it is just a little to much to swallow and quite frankly outrageous however i have paid him and the shed arrives next week. They will not be putting it up for a few weeks yet as they have other jobs to do. I will post some pictures on here when it is done. Actually i will put some up in a minute of the slab going down, very exciting for a 4 year old boy who thought 'Bob The Builder' and his scoop did a great job. Re: How much do concretors charge per hour??? 13Feb 16, 2010 5:47 pm maurita I was wondering if anyone knew how much Concretors charge per hour? We had the slab done for our shed today, a 6m x 3.6m. I asked him how much Concrete the slab needed and he told me 2.5 cubic metres at a 100mil deep. I know for a fact that the concrete is $200 a cubic metre because we used the same company for a smaller job that my father-inlaw helped us with a few months ago (he lives 400kms away and happened to be here on holidays last time so we could not get him to do it this time)and we got 1 cubic metre of concrete. So in saying that it would have cost $500 + $120 for Reo, so just over $600 all up approx. He was here 5 hours today and is charging us $1200. So knowing all of this, he is earning $120 per hour ( or close enough too it) Is that normal for a Concretor to earn this? I have not paid the bill as yet, until i find out a bit more about this, i am not happy Jan. Can someone please tell me if i am barking up the wrong tree or not. I find this just outrageous. I though that the normal rate would be about $50 - 60 per hour but what the. Meanwhile this guy was contracted by the shed company that we are using and i asked him if he could do it any cheaper than this and he said that at that price it was tight already. He also probably gets his concrete cheaper than what we paid for it so how does that work. Concreters dont work off hourly rate it is per sqm or if job is small its day rate plus all materials Re: How much do concretors charge per hour??? 14Feb 16, 2010 5:58 pm Where you are coming from is where you are going to...
